    That's all fine; Meanwhile my total monthly payments (amount and duration)are smaller, or if paying in full means my initial capital investment is much smaller=quicker r.o.i.. Therefore more profit.:biggrin_255:

    P.S. lighter weight usually = better mpg.

    ...and then you end up with a truck that no one will buy. The lighter weight will have negligible(probably immeasurable) effect on your fuel mileage. Now if you're doing something where you get paid by the ton or hundred weight AND you can load to gross every time, then you might be able to justify buying a super light truck.

    The whole "Paccar products have better resale value, therefore that's a good reason to buy one" theory doesn't hold water with me;

    a) i don't think "depreciation" should be part of the business plan. Or if it is, i don't feel it deserves high priority; Minimizing intial payments/startup costs is much more important. If the truck is supposedly worth so much, why are you selling it?

    b) Any truck that's been well taken care of will sell at a decent price even in a depressed economy provided you can wait. Ok, so a kw will fetch more at resale, but again the total cost was higher. How much are you really gaining?

    Corvettes have the best "resale value" of any car. Does this mean i should buy one in lieu of a cobalt or malibu if i'm just driving to work? You'll end up paying more regardless.

    Well it's obvious that you didn't major in business administration....:biggrin_25523:

    Are you seriously asking this?...Or is it a joke?

    The truck is maybe slightly more expensive when new...The payback is that it RETAINS more of its original value at resale time because it's less likely to be a rattle trap than the junkliner or the volvo or any of the other "playschool" trucks.
    If you pay $135,000 for a KW or a Pete that's still worth $80,000 when it's three years old that makes more sense than paying $125,000 for a junkliner that'll be worth $45,000 when it's three years old.


    This is "pretzel logic" at its finest!

    I love Coronado and Cascadia.. cabine built on base of Actros (mix of old actros and MP2), luxury sleeper, cabine is wide (2.5m), but, belive me D13 is not so good engine.

    I'd like OM502 V8.

    D13 is not good engine for Conv. truck application. Try to pull out cyl. head! Hidden plate bolts is a nightmare.

    OM502 is short engine, and to put it under the hood is not easy! needs frame redesigning. but it is one of the best engines for semis.

    And I love Cat! noisy, brutal, but tought.

    2004 (or older) 379 ext hood small bunk flat top 300" wheel base 600 cat (juiced to the 9's) black no markings train horns 9 roof lights straight 8" pipes. I could go on all night
