The dropping of the ez pass does not surprise me. This indicates the company is either running too tight and may be going under, or they have attended a seminar and found that this is a new way to pass cost onto the driver.
They are not an impressive firm.

I just quit them in June. I could tell ya'll some BS they do to their drivers. Sad. The dispatchers and planners are less than pathetic to say the least. Id say by now theyve chased off the remaining drivers that were making the old wage of .36 cpm for regional and the .40cpm for OTR. They say on there website as well as on a big semi trailer in front of the building "Regional drivers home EVERY weekend". Nope! If youre gonna get a driver in the door and tell him he'll be home every weekend, DO IT! I dont want to hear "if freights available" or the typical dispatch response "were looking", "not looking good", etc. The dispatch and more so the planners do not care about drivers. I and many McLeod drivers are convinced that the "planners" are truly idiots. Lazy as well. Look at the attrition rate for keeping and losing drivers. Every week they bring in a minimum of at least 10 new drivers. Company only has roughly 150 trucks. Thats a hell of alot of drivers to be losing a month and replacing. The I Pass, weigh staion PrePass. Gone. You pay the tolls and they reimburse. Delivery times......I dont even know where to begin on this...

wow after reading all of this i am glad i turned them down

This company claims they care about their drivers but they don't. This company tells their drivers nothing but lies. If you get fired make sure your truck is cleaned out before it happens, when it does they will not do anything to help you out. Just because a driver is fired does not mean things are bad with the driver and the company but the company acts like your evil and wants you off their property asap. They try and make you drive when you cannot drive, they have a guarentee but they will take that away over the smallest things, and forget getting good runs. They have long hauls but they only give those to the drivers that have been with the company for 3-4 years. Ontop of that, don't ever expect to be home on a friday evening. Their idea of being home for the weekend is getting the driver home sat. morning then making them leave sun. They even gave me trouble about taking an advance out of my own check. With no EZ-Pass they are making a lot of money off the drivers. They claim they saved $300,000 in a year without having the EZ-Pass, so don't think they will get it back. Every decision has to go thru Jason, the head dispatcher. He is the biggest A-Hole, and I mean biggest. If you get into an argument with him he will say he wants to talk to you face to face, but then he is never at the yard when you are. I ended up sitting a lot, they claim they have no freight in the area and they were looking, yeah right. When it was time for my home time they gave me a load that delivered in St. Louis on a thurs., ok no problem, but then they gave me a load to arkensas and back to St. Louis, ok I got back to St. Louis fri. When I got their they said oh sorry, we have nothing to get you home. I stuck it out with them for almost 2 years, I was making .40 a mile, and they are trying to get everyone out of the company that is making that much. This company fired me 5 days before I could get my two years in and collect my vacation pay. This company has too many problems and the people that work their do not know what they are doing.

Horrible company. And I worked for them twice. I know, I know. Im a forgiving person with a lot of faith that things were going to be different. They were not. Heres a little tidbit of what theyll do to you and how little they care. I had a small medical procedure that had to be done on a Thursday in May of 09. They(dispatch/planner) knew two months in advance of when I needed to be home for this. Called dispatch on that Monday of that week from Chicago and reminded them that Thursday was my doctor appointment. They jacked me around all week till Wednesday. "We cant find you a load gettin you home for this". Are you kidding me. At this point I was back in Decatur (the yard). Then they told me I can clean the truck out and find a way home for my appointment. I live in southern Illinois. Then at the last minute late Wednesday they tell me I can take a load to Mobile, Alabama for Friday morning. I make my appointment for my medical procedure at 9:00 AM Thursday. But no sooner I came out of surgery and anesthesia I had to be rolling for Mobile at 7:00 AM. Thats ridiculous. Jason Denton.....Wow! Head dispatcher.

Friends don't let friends drive for Mcleod Express!
They are so incompetent when it comes to maintaining their equipment. The shop manager acts like its the drivers' fault when the truck or trailers need repairs! Forget about getting a PM!
They cut down the fuel stops to like 26 Pilots & Flying Js. WTH? Plus, they don't give you the Pilot points. Just another way for them to nickel & dime the driver!
They don't have an EZ Pass or PrePass. If you decide to get a cash advance to pay THEIR tolls, they keep $2.00 of it when they reimburse you. $2.00 adds up after week after week, month after month of getting money to pay tolls!
They don't give you the real delivery times, they schedule you in an hour early. It used to be two hours early. This cuts into the drivers' time and throws his whole day off sometimes.
They have got the poorest planning board I have come across! These people absolutely do not know what they are doing when it comes to legally planning routes!
Honestly, no driver should have to butt heads with his company day after day about his hours or his DOT break. But alas, run into any of their drivers and if they tell you the truth, it is exactly what they have to do in order to run legal.
We all know that most companies rip us off of our mileage pay ie. HHG. If you work for McLeod & calculate the miles, they take 2-5% extra off the top plus HHG. I know this because I have seen bills before with the real miles that they are getting paid!
They advertise three out of four weekend home, yeah right. Most weekends, you don't even get the 34 hour reset! In on Sat evening, leave on Sun evening!
This is just a warning for anyone considering driving for McLeod. Don't believe the recruitment hype!
Friends don't let friend drive for Mcleod Express!bubbasparks Thanks this. -
I have a friend that just quit McLeod, he's hardcore outlaw and still couldn't keep them happy.

Wanted to give UPDATE:
Recently took a load going halfway across the country. Before I accepted it, I asked dispatch if McLeod would approve ALL tolls. They said yes.
Big SURPRISE: they didn't reimburse me for ALL the tolls like they said they would. I'm currently out of $50.00.
I have proof of this...I'm no dummy. Dispatch put it right on the Quaalcomm! -
Come one! Come all! Step right up to Mcleod Express & get the f**king of your life!
Here's the story: needed to get the truck fixed (loses air & air lines froze up because the air dryer was broke) but dispatch kept sending me trips. I turned down three trips & let them know that the truck needed fixed. I told night dispatch (who supposed left a note for day dispatch) & the shop so where the hell's the communication on their end?
Get the truck into shop but it's STILL not fixed and keeps losing air! But they send me on a trip to effin' Wisconsin! Needless to say I gotta shorthaul a few of their Illinois trips before I get my load going home (that delivers early Monday morning) all the way to the East Coast! So yeah, I got another one of those 24 hour weekends coming up and I'll have to watch my hours all next week. I worked all last weekend, by the way!
The worst part of this is, I run into a guy who lives in Illinois and has to deliver a load to PA near where I live, but they're sending HIM there & sending me to Wisconsin. These people are geniuses, aren't they?
Yeah, maybe, in upside down world!
Oh, BTW, don't get speeding tickets with this company either. I met two guys who were put on a 72 hour suspension for that. And, no, you don't get to go home either-you have to sit your butt in the yard or at the nearest truck stop if you wanna keep your job.
Just want to give everyone a WARNING out there! -
omg im a former driver with mcleod and i have way more damaging info and proof to tell you concerning mcleod and id love to tellu about it.id love to see mcleod get theres.
