DOT waking your co-driver

Yep! I usually put my screens in and turn on the fan and sleep like a baby!
But we pay for our own fuel REDD...

Most company steering wheel holders just don't care and they idle constantly whether they need to or not...Idiots!

 

79 degrees is hot inside a vehicle no matter where you are. Especially since International didn't think to put in vents up high in this condo to let the heat out.

Been trying to figure out a way to have some installed...or windows of some kind that can be opened.

 

There are many of times that I allowed you to park that rattle trap of a paccar product next to my fine Sweden engineering.... I'm trying to think.... I don't think I've idled once!

 

Sometimes I have to idle when I'm parked next to the "fine piece of swedish engineering" to drown out the sounds of the parts hittin' the ground when they fall off!

 

Now you know why I try not to idle!!!

Id love to know also, Id had the DOT do it twice during roadside inspections. Opened the curtains and all. BS that some do whatever they want legal or not and theres nada you can do it about it at the time.

 

Yes they can wake your co-driver but, he/she won't have to log it providing it takes less than 7.5 min.

 

Back during the old 8/10 days Imwas stopped at the rest area at the I think 71 MKR on I70 WB outside of Columbus, OH.
Some DOT cop started to knock on my door wanting to do a roadside inspection and I told him to go screw with someone else!
To say he got unhindged was an understatement. and he kept knocking on my door. I finally got on the CB and got a real smokey out there and As I told the DOT cop there was NO way I was going to sit in my drivers seat and have to reset my logbook and that I was going to have his arse arrested if he didn't stop harrassing me! When Smokey got there and heard my story and that I was going to do a citizens arrest if I had to if he didn't get the other officer out of there, he told the DOT that there was noting he could do if I did as I actually had the legal right to do so.
This was about 1995 and the DOT were known for doing this at those two rest areas, waking drivers up when they were asleep.

When I got home I wrote a letter to the governor and that crap pretty much stopped about then. BUT, If they do wake you up as a solo driver do not sit in the seat! That puts you back on line 1. You can sit in the passenger seat and thats line 4 and safe but (another butt) tell the MORON that you are on your 10 hour off duty time and hold your log book up to the glass (TIP: NEVER open your window for any officer EVER except far enough for you to talk through and pass your books through. It's a thing a GOOD constitutional lawyer {or one way better than Obama} will tell you) so he/she can see that your book has the line drawn and then wish him a good night and tell him you're going back to sleep or you'll call the police and have him removed as he's doing nothing but harassing you!

There is NO reason for any DOT officer to wake you up for an inspection unless you're sitting in the drivers seat.

Teams are different. He does need to verify that there is another driver in the truck. A peek through the curtains or yes a wave is really all he needs. Just remember when you let an officer into your truck even if you ask him what he's looking for (another constitutional thing) andhe finds a seed or a gun or something he "thinks" can be illegal! Have you5r tea mate stick his arm or head out and finish with the officer.

With these new ELogs I'm sure a look at the keyboard is all they will need from now on without waking someone who need their shuteye!

 

I just keep my co-driver's logbook, driver's license, and medical card in a box next to my seat. The quicker and more organized my info and his info is it seems make the inspection go quicker and smoother. I never was asked to wake my co-driver. Most of the times they pop their head out to check as to what's going on and the inspector apologizes for waking them (As long as I didn't create the violation for the stop) and when my info is organized I HAVE NEVER been inspected. When I had to search for my stuff I WAS inspected.
