IF your uncle is the one with the problem YOU cant MAKE him stop, he has to STOP for himself, cuz he WANTS to. Just like a drunk or a druggie people can try to force them to get sober BUT unless THEY WANT IT, all the threats, promises, bribes etc in the world will do NO good.

You have my sympathy if your family is dealing with this issue, its not an easy road to travel. YOU can only make yourself NOT be one that enables him to behave this way. YOU only control YOU.

i really wish you would have shot straight from the beginning, and not start off lying.

we gave you HONEST information for WHOMEVER this applies to.....

it WILL NOT go on ANY DAC report, but maybe a credit report if WHOMEVER THIS APPLIES TO, takes out loans for the gambling and falls behind in payments, or has "markers" at the casino's.......maybe the casino's report late payments...on markers...???, i don't know.....

what I DO KNOW is that "over here", when some "celebrity" comes to Foxwood's Indian Casino, or Twin Rivers a state casino, and OWES MONEY......it gets reported in the news....BIG TIME......so i'll go along with a possible assumption, it gets reported to a credit agency...??

I stop at casinos frequently. I found that if you can't stop gambling you'll have more fun and lose less money when you bet the minimum. I play craps and a little blackjack. I was on a bad losing streak for about a year but now I've been on a winning streak. I took 30 dollars to ameristar and won 215 dollars.

Thanks again for all the information it really is my uncle it has been to the point for the last 15 years he could not even keep a roof over his head because of his compulsive gambling, he has always has to live with someone else (mostly family) and even then could not to help pay for food because he blew his whole check at the boat as soon as he gets it. Thanks again for all the information hopefully we can get him to sign up for the exclusion act.

Sounds like family and friends are feeding his problem. As long as you all house and feed him, he has a way to feed his habit. Let him hit rock bottom and maybe that would be a wake up call.

He must be an extreme case. Most compulsive gamblers hit bottom with in a year or two. Family can intervene and have him banned from the local casino's. If he's a truck driver, he can go anywhere though. Until he wants to change, not much can be done.

Poker is the only casino game that you don't play against the house. I jumped in on the Texas Holdem craze in 2004. I studied and studied for about a year. Then I started playing seriously. I even played in the WSOP 4 times. I won a little over $98K in 2005-06. I was thinking about quitting trucking and going pro. I even had people wanting to stake me in big tournaments. Then I started having medical problems and my game went to hell. I lost a bunch in 2007, including a $7000 Vegas trip. I had my own wake up call and quit cold turkey. I still play recreationally on occasion. The last time I played was in 2008. I walked out the door with $3000. But I know them dreams of going pro are just that, dreams. I like having nice things too much to be throwing money away.

Hopefully your Uncle can wake up. You CAN"T beat the house.

feed a man a fish, and he will eat, today

show a man "how to fish", and he will do it on his own....

in other words, your family is "feeding him" his daily "fish".....

show him the door, and he WILL LEARN how to survive (fish)...ON HIS OWN...!!

sometimes "tough love" is best....and if the recipient doesn't like it...??

the door always still has a LOCK on it.....get to know HOW TO USE THAT....!!!!
