I've read on some other threads (mostly CR England if I recall correctly) that when a driver leaves the company, they are required to pay for repairs to the truck out of their own pocket.

These repairs sound like normal wear and tear items and not something that was done maliciously by the driver

I guess my question is this:

Are drivers required to pay for repairs (outside of obvious damage done maliciously by the driver) to the trucks they drive if they are company drivers??

not if your driving a comapny truck, however some companys will charge a clean up fee or something like that. But I've heard CRE is bad about back charges against their drivers. But with a normal company, no, all repairs are the companies, not the drivers.

you might have misread some facts/things...

if you are a "lease operator" you will have a maintenance account, and i do believe an "escrow" account among other "accounts.

it IS COMMON for the company to 'charge back" to the lessee some charges... so its BEST to make sure one keeps a lease vehicle SPOTLESS, but they (the company) will still win.

as a company driver, unless you did damage to the truck, like maybe cigarette burns, or had a destructive pet, you should NOT be charged anything.

Yeah, like Rerun said! Unless you are a company driver and did something maliciously, then you can expect them to come after you or hit your DAC with some bad stuff.
