Yep Swift has refer. Why not apply at someplace like SRT (Swift Reject Trucking owned by Covenant) or Central Refer (Swift owned) I hate grocery DC's with a passion. Even hauling dry goods takes 3-4 hrs to get unloaded. Drop and boogie is my choice. Some companies do that on the loaded end. Not always on the unloading part.

 

95+ unless you are doing some dedicated retail stuff. Usually really light. Sometimes we do driver unload on tires. That is work.

85-90% imaybe more is drop and hook.

 

Thank you Rug Trucker. I applied at Central but I take warfarin due to irregular heart beat. I don't understand this (knowing Swift owns Central) but Central will not accept me because of the medication and Swift will......What are grocery DC's (van or ref?)? I am going to have to go through a company Sponsored CDL mill to get my CDL. I have a pre-hire with Swift and FFE and I am trying to figure which company is better to work for and what type freight is best to haul.

 

Hey Ironrider, Swift does not own Central, they are a sister company in that one of the Swift owner's family members own central, Swift does not necessarily own Central.

 

Oh ok, thanks! I sure didn't understand why they would have different policies if they were the same company.

 

Ironrider check into WIA funding. That's who paid for my school. I owe nobody for anything. They paid for my license, endorsements, my gas, and my back ground check for my hazmat.

Checked in to the WIA funding and I don't quallify because of my current salary....After lots of research, phone calls, tossing and turning at night, doctor's appointments and bugging the **** out of you guys on this forum, I have decided to go with FFE. My reasoning is all complaints for all these CDL mill companies are about the same. You sign a one year contract with all of them. All but FFE take out weekly fees (up to $75.00 per week (Swift is $55.00) until your contract time is completed). There is no up front out of pocket fees with FFE. I know there are no FREE schools, but with the no up front sitting and tuition fees, no weekly reimbursement and $50.00 a week for food it seems FFE is the most logical choice financially. I am scheduled to go to Pine Bluff on 12/27/10.
