The Challenger and Ducks Thank this. -
What are you doing to your fuel at -52C? What temp is straight Canadian fuel good to?
-
We use a good fuel conditioner...definitely NOT Howes, that's no good for where I go..I personally like a conditioner that is made by Safety Kleen.
Our winter diesel comes in a variety of formulations, there's Diesel 10, good to -10C, Diesel 20, good to -20C, & what we run in the far north is Diesel 50, good to -50C, and THAT is home heating oil!
-
I've used Howes to 68 below without a problem. 3 weeks ago I was in 40 below and kept on chugging.
-
I've been running Kansas City to Edmonton, this was my 3rd winter up that way and I still can't get an answer I'm comfortable with about what temps the fuel in Saskatoon and Edmonton at FJ is good to. After gelling on the roll at -28F I put on an Arctic Fox hotline. I know what you mean about Howes, I had.it dosed thick and the 3rd time I.clogged filters between Sask and Maidstone that day I got towed to a warm shop.
-
When I'm running in the winter I always sit, preferably overnight, after fuelling. This gives the fuel a chance to warm up before going through the fuel lines and filters.
-
i have had fuel from both stoon and edmonton--wasnt J tho --was petro pass---didnt add any concitioner---and never any problems as low as -40
maybe the j has crappy fuel ? -
Im thinking it was crappy "treated" fuel from the States. Since then I put on a hotline and have always heavily treated US fuel with FPPF Polar Power but never Canadian fuel...and stayed out of the warm shop.
