Well its Friday I was supposed to upgrade on Monday in SLC However right now we are on our way to Wisconsin then to Michigan followed by a load to California. I would prefer to upgrade in SLC but if my trainer can't get me up to SLC then I get to do my upgrade in Cali. Which I guess wouldn't be to bad. I have decided that I am going to go solo. I was going to team with a girl from my class because I was nervous about the snow but she in upgrading in Conley so us not upgrading in the same place doesn't work out. So I will be a lone fawn with a pack of wolves. LOL Just kidding you all rock!!!!

I think you will like solo much better.
Besides, you have more snow experience now than many of the drivers that have been with Central for a year.
You will not end up stuck in the west all winter once you are on your own. You have rocked all the mountains now.
Just watch out for some of the Eastern ones when you come this way.
A few of them in WV and the Carolinas will sneak up on you.
They are not as long as some of the western ones, but they are steeper with more curves. -
Thank you CD I know I will be OK and will have the ability to get a lot more experience and show that I can really do this.

Try to stay on the interstate in PA in the winter. Some of those state highways are 10-12% grades. No switchbacks that I know of. Interstates are max 7% by law.

Thank you for the advice! Mikley........... I appreciate all the advice that everyone on here has given me. I am upgrading in SLC. We had a load to Cali that delivered tomorrow but as we were going across the 40 this morning we got a drop in the Phx drop yard and picking up an empty to load at pepsico in Tolleson. It delivers on the 3rd in SLC but its not even 700 miles. So we are heading up there. My trainer doesn't want to drive through the night to get up there and my hrs are up at 8 so most likely we will just be parking for a while and Im gonna start early. I didn't tell my family I was here because I didn't want them to get all excited and want to come get me and then me have to leave again. I'm not worried about the test tomorrow I know I can back without an issue I'm just a little slow.
-
slow is good. especially where i am right now! Sitting on the side of the road in a long stretch of ice on I 84 in OR. Ran out of hrs so i didnt bother chaining up....ill do it in the am.

Hey Smurfette, I'm waiting on my paperwork to go through with central right now, and hopefully will be going through their refresher course starting the 13th. You mentioned loads that you were getting that were in IL and WI. Was just wondering what area in both states were you?
-
That is a good question. I cant remember where we were in WI but I believe the IL load was in Matoon that we had picked up. I just got off my trainers truck today and he had all the load information. I don't really remember. I have been so many places already my head is still spinning a bit.

Smurfette Did you upgrade?
-
Yes I upgraded Thursday morning at 930. I passe the backing test with no problem and passed the driving test with no problem. I am sitting in the PHX airport right now I had a flight from SLC to Phx to Cali to get my truck. They haven't told me what I'm getting yet so it will be a surprise but I talked to my DM yesterday and cant wait to get started. I spoke to a lady trucker at the SLC airport this morning and her advice like everyone else s has been go slow take your time don't rush and you will be fine.
