Hi this is my first post on these forums.
I no longer have a CDL as I quit the trucking life for awhile. I am now thinking about getting
    Back into driving trucks again.
My previous experiance was about 5 years of over the road tractor trailer exp.
and 3 years of local exp. The last time I was a driver was when the hours of service were changed.

Anyway I am going to post this question on another topic here on this site and I hope to find and answer soon. As I said above I no longer have my CDL class a lic.
And I don't want to go back to a trucking school to get it back (reason $) or hire on with a co. With a trucking school inside it (again mainly $ reasons).
Anyway I am sure with a little studying and refreshing of my memory I am sure I can pass the CDL class A test here in North Carolina.

That being said I have 1 major problem .......... the DMV does not supply Trucks and Trailers to take the test in. That being said my main question is.......

Does anyone have an idea where I can get a truck to take the test in in N.C. ???????

Thank you to anyone with any help or ideas I can try.

My first thought was Ryder....don't know if they'll rent a truck or not.
I'm guessing you don't know any owner-ops that might help you out...that would be a good way to do it.

Wish I could be more help...but good luck to you (from someone who also left and returned).

First off, welcome to the forum.

Regarding your testing truck, I'd contact a trucking school. I know the school that I went to in '04 offered testing using their truck. The school was qualified with the States DMV or whatever to do CDL testing. Back then, they charged like $75 an hour for some "brush-up" driving and I think the test was about the same.

Welcome. I am thinking out loud but getting a job without recent veritable experience is going to be a problem.
