You simply can not do it forever
I had my knee rebuilt
Back is out of line still today
All from up and down the ramp, with a two wheeler and twisting and turning holding that weight while loading the dolly ... As heavy as you can to make less trips into the store or resturant ...
Why you think they have those good insurance plans ?
Cause you will need it ...
I did this for 3.5 yrs on a burger king account for US foods I was in a division formally Alliant Foods ... Which was bought by US Foods around 2003 I think -
Piece count is paid no where near that good
He makes bout 0.05 per case not no dang 0.52
That's 520.00 a day not happening trust me on that based on his 1000 case load
The food service industry is cut throat and 0.02 cents per case on big accounts loose them .... They are in huge comp with Sysco
And others
Most pay by the Hr you will make any where from
16.00-20.00 some pay the hrly rate and a piece count of anywhere from
0.02 - 0.05 so it bost the compensation up about 1.00-3.00 per hr
They do piece count as an incentive the faster you go more per hr you make ...
My best year at US on a dedicated burger king account was bout 52,000
With a small bonus of bout 500.00
80,000-90,000 not happening
I still got friends at US in Paducah Kentucky and try are making 6 yrs latter bout 19.00 per hr and 0.05 piece count
But they piece count is mainly on the over night runs
I left US for Walmart to actually make 80-90k now would I have done that if I had a job already doing it ?
Answer : prob not
Do some research before you jump
US has high turn over due to the fact the work is hard and it tears your body up ... -
Secondly if the guy who said he has 800-1000 cases at 0.52 per case
He said hecwas done in bout 3 hrs
He either
1. Had what the call pallet drops bout 300-400 cases on a palleitized fashion
No work hardly at all .... Very easy
2. Is lying
At 0.52 per case and 3 hrs work that's
520.00 for 1000 cases slightly less if he has less cases but let's say 1000 cases
That's over $100.00 per hour heck it's over $150.00 per hour
True number is is bout $165.00 per hr
Come on folks .... You can see he is
FOS :
Lawyers don't make that or some don't -
I think fos these companys are willing to pay 50 to 60 a year because the work is insane. I have yet to see a 3 hour day that paid more than 150. Runnin a normal 700 case 15 stop 150 mile day pays us about 275. With overtime you can tap out a 1400 dollar week. Remember with non union foodservice you dont get time and a half. I get 9.50 an hour overtime pay since we aren't hourly. If there were routes payin 90 a year pullin a pallet jack for 3 hours Id have 4 jobs and sittin pretty!

I never would of believed they made $70,000-80,000 either. But im looking at a us foods pay stub right now (not mine) that says gross pay a little over 79,000 and net pay of a little over 62,000. Thats for new jersey. I came across this the other day and was amazed. I always wanted to pull a tank but when I saw this I think there is another local company on my list for when I get some time in.

It pays well because you are making two guys salary driver pay plus helper pay, you are doing two guys worth of work too. Ive seen a lot of drivers quit on their first day because its just "too much work". The check looks great and the benefits are good but you bust your tail for them. Youre gonna need those benefits too expect to have a close relationship with your chiropractor and invest in tiger balm. Also save up for the back surgery and knee replacements Seriously its hard on you. Remember your unloading a thousand cases at full speed all day no time for lunch so you will definitly lose weight, youll more than likely quit the cigs when you cant breathe in the freezer Just know what your gettin into be prepared to work harder than you ever wanted and take on each day knowing that you will eventually get that stuff off the truck and youll make it.
