Ukranian should understand a little bit and I heard that Alberta is much more developed than the rest of Canada. However, I don't want to change destination before trying. In my first visit never intended to find a job, I went to see, gather information and stayed only till the arrival of my social security and permanent residence cards.

Honestly, Montreal is a nice city, personally had no trouble with the people of French ascendancy (other than by speaking French very poorly and English not much better), the housing isn't too expensive, perhaps I may be able to study in the University and work in my field in some years.

I actually have a suv and an auto, I don't have a truck. I like to drive, wouldn't feel comfortable at all driving some big rig, an F-450/550 is more like a pickup.

Perhaps may sell the small family business and properties before leaving Peru definitely.

Without the trailer, the F-450 could still be used as some kind of everyday vehicle. An F-550 with a flatbed and crane is grotesque, but the public transport is reasonably good and could be more versatile for business.

BTW, I think that a flatbed can tow a trailer too.

Approximately, how much does "hot shot" service get paid?

All you need to drive a pickup truck of any size with a trl of any size, is a class5 license which would be your normal car license. And about the french vs english speaking, it's not that bad, depending on the regions. If you're nice and calm with no attitude, people here will talk to you in english or at least do their best. You have to go past the language/politics stuff, you'll see it's a wonderful place as is the rest of Canada :biggrin_25525:!!

    I wouldn't pay.....the ticket is illegal...
Canada is a bi-lingual country and Quebec is still part of Canada.....all the official document HAVE to be printed in both languages by law...
If they are not then the document is unconstitutional and therefore null and void...

This guy is trolling for advice on how to start a company that will take freight out of the back of your trailer and you give it to him?
This is a guy that will cut the rate to a point that a real trucking company won't even be able to pull it for to pay for feul.

There are more than enough scabby guys pulling fifth wheel trailers with duallies and cutting the rates. If he can't figure it out on his own leave him be.

Hotshot services are quite legit, and in the oil patch it's usually done for a few pieces of equipment or pipe. Nothing huge. So, it's not something that any flatbed carrier would bother taking.

Well he's not in the oil patch.....he's in Montreal and most companies nowadays have to pull LTL freight to pay the bills. He wants to cutt into that. This guys wants to poach freight without having to pony up the cash for equipment.

Every industry changes and those who don't adapt fall by the wayside. Looks to me like he's doing the right thing.
