Thanks JimBob. I know that a lease will "kill" most newbees. I will not entertain the thought of it until I have at least 2-3 years driving behind me.

One question I have not seen answered (I did skip the first 2/3 of this thread) does Central pay weekly?
-
To answer your question, yes Central pays weekly.
And now for my question. I am in the hiring process for Van Wyk. I want to have my truck in Conley by the end of next week. I want to set up a rental to get myself back to PA for the holidays and pick up my cousin from basic in SC on the way up.
So the actual question, what's the best procedure to get out of here? I've heard if you give them two weeks they will buy a bus ticket home, or credit that amount towards a plane ticket you'd buy? (or perhaps a car rental?)
Or should I go the other route and tell them I need to get to the shop then once I'm there tell them oh BTW I'm done? -
Why is that? Because freymiller trying to recruit me or the snow following me?
now I'm in the middle of an ice patch at the racine, wi petro.

Well drop the ly from the dyslexia then you have my name. So I'm not offended. Even though you don't want me around you. Lol

as with any other job, DON'T go for option 2. They may decide to take revenge and put some derogatory info on your DAC. Then if the other job doesn't pan out, you are screwed. If you leave on good terms, at least you have a chance of coming back. Just remember, the grass isn't always greener.

Want to introduce myself. I am waiting on central to do a driving background, and a crime check. I should know tomorrow, or Tuesday, if I get into the school. Life is about taking a chance, and I have an opportunity to go to school, and be a trucker. I know if I don't try, it will be in the back of my head, I should have given it a try. This will be the first time driving a truck. This will be a new start for me. I am older man (57yrs). I have been reading this thread, and found some good info. Like anything we do, there will be a down side to it, but I have to say'"Put the pedal to the metal, and go". I look forward to being part of the brotherhood.
