He's saying the more research YOU do now, so that YOU pick a better company to work for will benifit YOU in the long run. If you just go with the first company to call you back chances are you'll be out of trucking within 6 months....Not many people make it in trucking....why make it any harder for youself?

You need to decide what you NEED and WANT from a company and find companies that meet as many of those needs as possible.

I left covenant and the other BAD companies off the list, why tell him about a company that sucks to work for? We're suposed to be helping him make a good choice not a bad one......

Most companies going more with teams now days, so you might look into refrigerated if looking to go solo. Stevens in Texas does refer, but I hear there hard to work for.
    Good Luck!

But isn't it the so called bottom feeder companies that are the ones that give new drivers a chance to get started? Most of the better companies need 1-2, even 3 years of driving experience, Not to mention in today's times, it appears if you have any kind of blemish on your driving record, it takes you off a quality companies list. TMC stated "3 years from last traffic citation." 3 years?! Argh!
I would love to be able to go to Maverick Transport as a new driver, but....
