For those who don't bother readin' the whole thread, jls1024 posted First Day With C.R. England on November 17, --- back in 2008. Jsl was last seen on November 26, 2010, which is a few days past two years since first posting. Two years at C.R. England and still reporting that things are goin' very well for she and hubby drivin' team. So well, it seems, that they've forgotten that they positively would not get into a lease with the Sons-0-Chester. Sounds like a success story? Could be. However, ........ I'm thinkin' that if things were still goin' good these last 10 months, we'd have at least heard more about the "brand new fuel efficient Cascadia" and their continued success. But the silence is deafening. Not a word, --- one way or the other. On the other hand, if, .................. for some reason, their sweet deal turned sour, would they be inclined to inform us of that? Or would they fall off the end of the Earth, --- like sooo many others who just disappeared without a word? If that's the case it's not at all unusual. Don't believe me? Think I'm just a negative person who delights in bad-mouthing the Sons-0-Chester? Do yourself a favor and actually read all the comments concerning C.R. England, --- good and bad. Do that and then tell us that you don't see a consistent pattern of the same complaints. Tell us you didn't notice how some of those posting positive comments suddenly disappear from the radar screen, ..... never to be heard from again. What happened to them? Where'd they go? I think folks prefer sayin' I told you so and rubbin' in that we were wrong about C.R.E. But when it comes to sayin' Y'all were right about C.R.E., they're reluctant to admit it so they just fade away without a peep. Now, I don't know if they're still doin' well or not, --- I sincerely hope that they are. But if they aren't, and their C.R.E. adventure turned into a nightmare as it has for so many others, there are newBees who might be influenced by the positive reports enough to dive right into the deep end. IMO, those who report a positive experience when things seem to be goin' well, and quit posting all together if things go haywire, --- are doin' those who read these threads seeking information a dis-service. For all we know, this thread could be another C.R.E. shill pretending to be a driver by posting bovine excrement that encourages some folks to take a leap of faith, --- only to find out the hard way that there's no water in the pool. Bottom line folks, it's y'all's decision to take a chance with the Sons-0-Chester. If y'all prefer to believe we're just cranky ol' koots with a grudge and a chip on our shoulders, ...... that's your choice. I doubt any of us tryin' to make y'all aware of what the outcome is the greater percentage of the time, will lose any sleep if we're ignored. There have always been and always will be those who only hear what they wanna hear and disregard the rest. They seek advice that's candy-coated and reject the truth and facts that don't match what they want to imagine Big truck truckin' is like. If anyone is considering a play-by-play thread of their C.R.E. adventure, ..... please see it through to the end. Cliff hangers aren't appreciated and don't really tell the whole story.
I do hope to hear from her. I hope in her optimistic quest, she is not hesitant to post that it all went to hell anyways. My hubby, love of ,my life, is with CRE now. Went to school for a refresher, luckily we live right by the school, the hotel sucked, so he stayed at home, said they'de reimburse him for gas, they did not. Did phase 1, boy oh mighty do they push that lease. I went to ripofreport.com, said no hell way, just re-up, then if you want to lease, find a company that isn't in court all the time. At the end of phase ! they announced phase 2 would end, IF you leased a truck. If you did not lease a truck, you would stay on that phase 2 truck and NOT step off until you leased. they were not hiring company jobs, they were eliminating company drivers. You could skip phase 2, lease and become a trainer. my husband sat next to a man with his unliminated CDL, he's going to be a trainer. So my hubby called corporate, they offered him a company job. Burns Harbor has a Horizon dealership in it, drink the kool-aid or else. Sooo.... 4 weeks out so far, hasn't even asked to come home yet, because his paychecks are being stolen. Yup. First of all, no toll reimbursements. one of those things they don't tell you, but hand you a giant book, it's in there. 2nd: it's there policy to pay detention pay, after 3 hrs being delayed at a shipper, as long as you're ontime, regardless of who the shipper is. Husband got stuck 25 hours, they are not paying him because "a lot of drivers were delayed over 24 hours there, we haven't decided on paying for it yet" so that was 25 unpaid, no food or water, and DM ignored all his messages asking if he could pull out to get food and water. They randomly shave cpm off his pay, and we have to call payroll, and it "will be put back on the next check" everything the shipper gets charged for comes OUT OF YOUR CHECK if you can't get your Dm to give an AR #, and the insurance? it is NOT what they hand out in class, the coverage for $168 a week is only $100 per visit, $500 max ER, $1000 a day hospital (imagine having a surgery on one of those days) and the prescription coverage up to $1500 a year? nope! $100 a month. But you find out a couple days before you can opt out, so hurry up!!!! that sheet with the $30 copay nonsense? not even. oh, and you don't get paid for actual miles, you get paid for crows path miles pretermined by some stupid guide. Haven't seen in 4 weeks, trying to find a GOOD company that will take him with refresher, 2 mo exp, 4 years class a (1999-2003) that will actually pay him.
1) When it comes to toll reimbersements, you answered your own question. Everything about the company and about being a IC with the company is written in black and white. It's your responsibility to read the material given to you. In-between Phase I and Phase II training, you have 3 months to read. There's no reason to be 'suprised'. 2) Detention pay depends on the customer, not CRE. CRE can charge the customer for detention, but if the customer doesn't pay it then you're SOL. Also, 25+ hours without food or water? I don't buy it. Regardless of what your DM says, leave the customer and park at a truck stop. Give the customer your phone number so they can contact you when the load is ready. This job is not rocket science. Common sense is all that's required. 3) CPM never gets randomly shaved off. 90cpm is a flat rate IC's and O/O's make. What makes a difference in your pay is the trip mileage. If the trip mileage is for 600 miles, you're only going to get paid for 600 miles. Welcome to the industry. Every OTR carrier does this. 4) A AR is required to get reimbersed on any expense. Whether it be tolls, load locks, etc. As a IC, you're limited on what you can get because you don't work for the company. You're not a company driver if you're a IC. 5) CRE doesn't make the lease guidelines. Horizons does. The only deduction CRE takes is the 14cpm. The only real 'profit' CRE makes off your truck is that 14cpm charge for pulling their freight. Horizons is the company making a killing off your lease. Not CRE. CRE and Horizons are two different companies. 6) Read before you sign. You might as well be signing your soul to the Devil himself if you don't read a lease contract.
I would LOVE to know how you are doing with C.R. England. I may be heading there myself and would like to know that you and your husband are still doing good there.
i have to agree read the lease agreement before you sighn your life away and wreck your credit if you have any not saying they do or dont. as for some leases they have certain amout of miles you can drive the truck before they start nailing you for each additional mile like a leased car per say!! always take a lease to your lawyer if you don't have one GET ONE you'll need it. if this person has good credit they should goto a dealer and buy a decent truck and trailer to what frieght they wanna tug around and they will come out cheaper in the long run.and why be stuck to one carrier if things get bad when you can take your shiny toys some place else and from what ive been hearing all these companies start L/O out with great miles then they slow em down so they can't make the payments!! not saying all leases are bad just cover your ### no one else will!!
