With Wifi it has never been easier. I pay my bills the same way I post on here. Electronic media with mirror sites.

I usually pay bills online, or in advance. Keep a box of envelops and stamps on hand just incase you need to mail a payment off when you are on the road.

IF you do it the old fashioned way, before you hit the road, write down all your monthly bills and account numbers and due dates. You can then mail them in without the statement. (put your account no. on the check). This works for your bills that are the same amount every month. You can also pre-pay some of them, such as cell/electric/gas etc. Send in $200 for instance on the electric bill and you won't get a due bill until that $200 is used up.

Get a checking account with Bank of America, or Wells Fargo or Chase. They all have mobile banking apps. I pay all my bills from my cell phone. Its free and easy.

I only receive two of my bills in paper form, everything else is electronic billing, and even then 5 of those are direct e-bills handled through my bank where I don't even receive a notice of the bill, it just pops up in my bank account and I pay it.

that is exactly what i did. there weren't home computers or online banking "back then".....my money was either direct deposited or someone i had trust in, would go to the bank with that LONG string of numbers from when i get paid by comcheck(?) and then make the deposit for me. that person also just signed my checks as well.

long gone are those days, when you have direct deposits now and online banking today. as said, a person can also have the bills paid monthly by direct withdrawals......

We have a mobile broadband connection through Verizon Wireless and financial software with Quicken. Several times each week, I'll make a download of our accounts and see what's due.

If you use Quicken or something else, you must be good at creating an "Expense" and when it's due. I have bills that get paid every three months (personal insurance), six months (car insurance and the like) and every year (term life insurance; car taxes and the like). Do also the same with deposits that are made or you know are coming on a regular basis.

When I make a download, I know exactly where I stand with credit cards and I'll make a payment every week. You can also have the option of going paperless (I'm not quite comfortable about that just yet with going completely paperless) and get statements online. I'm doing that in conjunction with the online statements. So far everything is working well.

Quicken makes it very easy for me to handle our finances, although there is a small learning curve to using it. People can share all the problems they have with paying bills online, but as long as your are using a secure server with 128-bit encryption, you won't have a problem. Keep your passwords to yourself and if anyone asks what they are, it's none of their business, and you can be quite happy to tell them just that!

FWIW, please think long and hard about paying for a service that you can do for free yourself. Credit cards sites will take online payments. DiscoverCard allows you to pay every three days. If I can make a payment myself, I do. If I can have a bill drafted online, I do. It's so much easier to do it that way instead of mailing something USPS.

I've been online since 1995 and haven't had a problem yet paying my bills! For me, it's the ONLY way to go. All you need is a little discipline and you'll be just fine.

    All the best to you!

    Best regards,

    Mike

You need three ingredients: A laptop with a wireless aircard, Quicken or a similar application (optional but extremely helpful, fast, and accurate as a checkbook register), and a bank that has online billpay.

Most banks with online billpay will also be able to download all banking transactions... like cleared checks and electronic payments... directly to a Quicken-like application so that end-of-the-month reconcilliation tasks take just a few minutes to complete.

I keep track of 6 different accounts in this fashion, and what would require hours of time with old-fashioned check registers and hand-writing checks for snail mail instead only requires minutes of my time.
