Don't the 4-way flashers use the brake lights?
You should only have to turn on the 4-ways, then get out and check.

Funny, my husband wiggles all over, pulls forward, wiggles some more, etc...Unless he's blind-backing with an over-size - then it's a one-shot deal. His sister also nails the narrow, blind-back spots. Must be the genes.

I watched a guy blind-back into a spot in big cabin, ok, with 3 inches on both sides, while talking on the phone. One shot parking, slowed down enough to reverse. I wanted to give the guy an ovation, but I was afraid of disturbing his call.

Seen a lot of weird things happen with lights on trucks, the small companies that work on their own trucks to save money might cross some wires the wrong way and no telling what the lights on the truck or trailer might be doing. Best to see whats going on with your own eyes or someone you trust.

Backing a set of joints can get you in and out of tight spots but you have to be good or you can get tied up into a pretzel. I have been driving a transfer for 15 years now and still amuse myself at the places I can put my truck and trailer.

I grew up around transfers my whole life. West Coast Sand & Gravel in CA, maybe you've heard of us. My family owns the company. Anyway, now that I am 21 I started driving transfer a few months ago. Having a lot of fun, and these machines are definitely unique. Backing was a whole new challenge, as well as some other things. All fun to learn though.

Like today, when I had to turn around on a levy, instead of backing 1/4 mile. I had been dumping there all day, but on my 4th run there was a crane staged on my haul road. So I disconnected, dumps both boxes, and this is how I turned around:

Sometimes, when backing up you wish there was an audience. Other times you wish there wasn't!

Backed in a hole in Texarkana one afternoon were a Warner driver had tore the front off a nice KW parked on the end. He had half the lot blocked while they were looking at damage and taking pictures. All the other drivers were passing up on a hole because of where the Warner had the isle blocked. With 1/2 the truck stop watching I set up, snaked around the Warner and in to the hole 1st try. Had several drivers congratulate me on that one.
But other times when I pull in exhausted and just ready for bed, it seems like 20 trucks line up behind me while I struggle to put it in an easy hole. Just seems to take longer when you have someone waiting on you to get out of the way and you blow the set up and have to pull forward 10 times to get it in.
