or you can park on private property behind a locked fence and idle all day long. But still thats flat out corruption to forcefully make a business out of compliance simply because they have so-called become a nuisance. Besides they only practice 3 days a week. How the heck can those trucks alone cause the pollution to be that bad.

Just think,,the students won't be grinding gears when they shift,,,I wonder how many students it will take to push the trucks???

Truck stops are private property and they can cite you there.

Yep. I got my $300 California Air Resources Board (CARB) present when I stopped in Lodi, Ca last September. It was 97 degrees outside and I had been stopped for about 8mins, updated my log and was putting on my shoes to go get a sandwich at the Subway when a dark blue unmarked pickup with a shell pulled in front of me. The driver (enforcement officer) got out and took a picture of the left, front and right sides of my truck. Before I could finish tying my shoes to see what was going on, he jumped back in his truck and left.
Three weeks later, my company calls me to let me know I have an idling ticket. What pissed me off was the officer saw me and didn't tell me what was going on. He scurried off before I could get out of the truck. I called the Sacramento number to appeal the ticket, citing the facts that it was hot outside and that i'd only been parked for 8 mins (verified by DriverTech). The lady on the phone took the info and said I would be called back. After waiting 15 days, I recalled them and was told I would be called back in the afternoon.
Here's the kicker; I got the call later that day, and it was the Northern California Enforcement Division Chief for CARB. Why am I talking to this guy, I thought. I was surprised when he asked me to state my appeal right over the phone. I had expected to appear before an independent board or Judge to present my case, but it seems like CARB has authoritarian control of who gets to appeal, as well as where and when. I mean this is the main guy in charge of making sure his officers generate enough revenue to meet his Divisions quotas, and he gets to be judge, jury and executioner too! Sound like a conflict of interest and due process? That's like having the Commissioner of the CHP running the traffic courts! Where's the impartiality?
Sure enough, no matter how well I explained it, he determined right there and then over the phone that I was guilty. I hope a class-action suit is started over this. I know many drivers have since faced the same stone-walling as I did. Welcome to California....not.truckermario Thanks this. -
National City, Ca is soooooo close to the US/Mexico border, where 100's, maybe thousands of N/B trucks queing up waiting to enter the country are idling for hours on end. Kinda' weird, huh......
Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
Well maybe its time to put a hurt on the whole state of commifornia, and quit delivering to them or picking anything up there,, if they want it they can go to the border with pickups and cars,, that will fix them. its high time this gets taken care of, I dont know who started that mess there, but its time for drivers to put a hurt on that state and end it.. If every driver would join in and refuse to go there, what a difference it would make.

Although private, truck stops are categorized as "highway". Thus, LEOs have unfettered access (the specific legislation was posted in another thread by one of our resident experts ... and yes, I am too lazy to go look for it).

I beg to differ.
The manager at New Caney, TX evicted the Texas DOT from his property.
I also know that when the locals invoked Homeland Security they walked onto the Flying J property in Effingham and started waking up the truckers.
