You should be able to get a day off per week out.
Call and demand to speak to his director, explain the problem, and request to be taken off the FM's board if necessary.
They are known to have several "pompous arse" FM's.
But it's your CDL, let them know you'll walk if they won't give the home time.
You'd think this outfit would have learned after shrinking by a few thousand units and drivers (which they can't seem to replace again). -
take the day you wont and if he keep witching take one more..and if that don,t work QUIT.that will shut him up.. there all a-holes
Keepfrozzin Thanks this. -
Call human resources and file a complaint against him. Then fire your DM, you can do this through human resources. I had previously been in DCS, and went waaay up the chain of command with my complaints.
Might be a good idea to post on here asking for someone to PM you with a recommendation on who to go to. During my time there OTR I was not able to find a good DM. I had Jeremy Fuller, and have not one good word to say about him and his team ... wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy. And a girl named Melissa, only had her for a day, went on scheduled vacation, found a different job ... which is what I suggest you do

It's called follow your chain of command. If you don't like your FM then you go to your team leader, director, and so on.
JB has an open door policy so all you have to do is ask if you don't know who those people are or need their info.
Yes...unfortunately JB has some very awful FM's - they may be very good at their jobs but they have lousy people skills. However, so does every other trucking company out there; it's not a perfect world.
Speaking with HR is another good idea to try and resolve your issues. It is also a good idea to record dates, times, names, and other events so that you can keep your issues factual instead of opinionated. -
The team leader will often not be much better - and will just "conference call" to double team and tell you how you're wrong - and they are right. Though they will transfer you to another FM on the same board if you raise enough Cain.
Watch out for the old "buddy FM" conference call - with just the FM sitting next to them.
Often "another" region director will listen more unbiasedly, but if the issue is serious enough, go straight to the HR department.
You'll have to go further up the chain to leave your "region" entirely, since they will fight tooth and nail not to loose a driver to another department. Usually never "another position" available - usually BS.
Be cool, collected and specific, at this point the FM will have probably changed their attitude - and will act like your "best friend".
The entire system is designed to pit FM's against drivers, and your "performance" affect the FM's revenue and bonus structure.
A large part of performance is days out in the truck - moving or not, number of loads delivered on time, short hauls or not, miles or not.
Just corporate BS, layers of it. -
yes you can, but most of those fm are insignificant. your dealing with people who have not been in the trucking industry for a long period of time. i changed boards three times before i finally got on a good one and with a good fm. ea3 board out of little rock is a good board to be on. Cindy Rogers is a good fm to be with. she ran me 3000 miles a week while i was making .43 cpm. the male fm's are not worth a flip. most of them are young and indifferent to your needs. you need to make a stand with these people. also they like to use the OTR people to make local deliveries. this is bs. don't do it. they also use these drivers to del and pu at the railyards. this is a complete waste of time. you don't make any money doing this. i learned the hard way not to drive for any company that does business with the railroad. it takes freight away from the drivers. also watch the yards they send you too, that memphis yard is congested daily and nightly, you will have to park at the Pilot truck stops because of the congestion. if you look for another job, go with another company that is also a brokerage as well as a trucking company. i did that and the miles were always there.Last edited: Apr 25, 2011
