I live in Baltimore Maryland looking to run regional I am used to NY and NY anyway so I dont care. I have two years of OTR so driving near home is good for me. What do you think about that Daily Pay Option ($182.00/day X 5 Days = $910.00/week)*You can elect to receive your compensation as daily pay of $182.00/day . I am also looking at Schneider natioanal two I have my tankers also IS IT TRUE WHAT BAR NUN SAYS

DO THEY KEEP YOU MOVING IF I GO OTR

Yes they will pay you that way, but they at times will try to short you a days pay by sitting you at the house, or having you make a delivery 50 miles from home. Then telling you that they have no freight. Then they will make you an offer. Sit in they truck an hour from the house and get paid, or go home and not get paid. If you run norheast regional, I will warn you in advance that the load planner is a moron. I don't think that he could plan a one car funeral procession if the church were next door to the cemetary.

STAY AWAY FROM BARR-NUNN!!!!! They talk a good talk but they dont give a #### about their drivers. All they care about is how much money goes into their pockets. They dont want you to idle the trucks to cool off or stay warm, but they wont put in Tripaks or APU's either. They now have forced routing and fuel stops. (The idiot they have doing both doesnt know their behinds from a hole in the ground and obviously has NEVER seen the inside of a truck, much less driven one.)
Their trucks are neutered at 62mph but they still dispatch at 90mph. They dont want you to stop to get a drink, stretch your legs, or god forbid... go to the bathroom.
So, if you like slow trucks, freezing or sweating to death, and having to schedule your breakdowns(cuz god forbid you have to have a repair done while on the roadwhich would cost them money),and having to deal with the epitomy of buttwipes, by all means.... go to work for barr-nunn.

I would go with the daily pay with Barr-Nunn, sounds like a pretty good deal if that is true!

if you can get in with schneider I would reccomend that you take it. the tanker orentation is 2 weeks long but they are a pretty good company all and all. and if tanker isnt for you they will let you change jobs without problems

I would love to get on w/ SNI doing tanker. I have Hazmat and Tanker endorsements but I am not in SNI's hiring area. I find it hard to understand, I live in eastern NC, not a rural area. It is well populated and a lot of industry around.:biggrin_25513:

Dont feel bad, I tried getting on their Choice program and they told me I lived a WHOLE 30 MILES out of their hiring area, I then asked why does that matter when it's my truck and my fuel and all I got was uhh uhhh lmao:biggrin_25526:

I worked their 12 or 13 years ago and they were the best company I ever worked for. Only reason I left was to be home every day. It sounds like things have changed though. I guess the owner Bob Sturgen has retired and now his daughter is in charge. Since then Ive heard a lot of bad things. Do a search at the top of the page on Barr Nunn. Their are several treads on this forum about them. Their are still good things being said about them also. I live in upstate NY and see them all the time. They are advertising for the NE regional from Syracuse south down I81. I have heard the miles are not that good and a lot of sitting with NE regional. OTR drivers seam to be happier. For a very large company Schneider seams to be as good as it gets. The best of the worst I guess. I worked their also 15 years ago. You will learn to do things the Schneider way. But it wasnt realy a bad way. Schneider rote their own book on how trucking should be done and they teach you their way. Like I said it realy wasnt that bad of a way to do things. If you want to run regional I think schneider would be better. I you would go OTR I think either would be a good choice.
