this may be in the wrong place and if it is can someone help me by putting me in the right place for the answer...
I drive flatbed and over the weekend i was given a ticket in Houston TX for having rocks and such on the trailer and I am not too mad about the ticket because it did put me out of service but he let me clean it and put me right back into service...I say I am not too mad because he was going to give me a ticket for my straps, 3 of which were a little frayed, and that would have put me out of service and big one big mess because I did not have any other straps so anyways my question is does anyone know how much something like this would cost? I called to the courthouse down in Houston and they say I have to wait 10-15 days for them to input the ticket into the system befire they can give me a total...
also this is my first time getting a ticket or being shut down and put out of service...how does this affect me as a driver? The new csa rules? I am new to trucking so please help me out...thanks!

how was the ticket written?
unsecure load? -
strap violations in texas used to be $150/ strap. The rocks on the trailer is a securement vioilation. I got 8 at one time back when you couldn't have straps over the rub rail. Csa is 10 points per load securement times 3 as I understand it
-
Your probably looking at $150 and 10 pts for an out of service. Any OoS is not good, but keep your nose clean on one and it shouldn't hurt you. The system is designed to get repeat offenders and put pressure on the companies from hiring them people. As far as losing your license or going on your MVR, no effect.
CSA 2010 let's the companies do the dirty work by firing and not hiring.
Edited, musicmakeris right. It multiplies by 3 for year one, X2 for year 2 and X1 for year 3. Your statement musicmaker... "back when you couldn't have". Does that mean they now allow the straps to go over the rail? -
it was written"loose material not removed from nonload carrying parts of loaded veh - rocks, dirt, bolts/nuts, wood and grass"
so im guessing it was written as a nonload? does this make a difference? -
thanks...he did not write the straps just the rocks on the trailer? so i wonder how this is going to go?
-
ok thanks...i am not too well versed in the csa 2010 rules what are the x3 x2 x1 stuff?
-
I think they allow straps over the rub rail now, lots of drivers have them that way. I still put mine on the inside. Debri is considered a load securement violation, so if that is all thats on the inspection report then you've got 30 points
-
Under CSA 2010, your points are multiplied times 3 the first year, year 2 after the violation its multiplied times 2 and for year 3 times 1.
-
ok... so how does the points work? how many can you get and not be looked at like you are a bad driver? how many will cause you to lose you license? i know i have to research the rules but a quick answer would help me right now...thanks!
