Heavy Frame

    Tryin to figure out the difference in weight between a standard frame and a single heavy frame. Anybody got an idea?

    If you're looking at a new truck they'll have lb per feet formula for frame rails. multiply it by the length and that will get you in the ball park. I'd go heavy single if I had the choice.

    A heavt single isn't that much heavier. Dont be afraid of it.

    A guy in the area specs his trucks with a heavy single frame instead of double frame. Not sure of thickness, but it appears to be approx. 1/2"? He has a lowbed business and got tired of rust between the rails, ruining them. He has been happy with the single frame, so far...:biggrin_25514:

    probley 3/8" thick also not sure on other makes but with mack you also have the option of ordering not only a thicker rail but taller, standard rail is around 8" but RD rail is 12" tall 3/8" thick
