your correct, I'm not sure of the points for the oil leak or exhaust leak. I would guess around 5 each, but times 3 would be another 30 points. Adds up quick huh....
You can look that up on the CSA web site. Yep it either has to be fixed or dont drive it, or if they don want to fix it, find another carrier otherwise you will be going down with them

The only way you can protect yourself is demand a new perfect truck to drive. We all know better than that. Everyone needs to appeal every violation and totally tie up the system till they see how impractical it is.Also appeal all your retroactive points as these will hurt just as bad.

There is no appeal process as far as I know. You can dispute wrong information but it goes back to you officer that wrote it to ether deny it or accept it as is. Most will come back as NO action required

One thing that will help you in the future. I carried a small push broom. The head was about a foot wide. Stored easily. Unscrewed handle from it. Good for debris removal snow etc. Also in the winter carried a small spade. Good for removing ice off trailer or digging out snow if I got stuck. Rubber mallet for banging ice off straps, tarps, etc.

An informal hearing can be requested.

Texas does use the federal Uniform Fine Assessment Program (UFA). This allows for fines to be somewhat progressive. First offense is one fee, second can be higher third can be still higher. Penalties are calculated based on many factors (Including number of violations). They do utilize specific software for this purpose. The worksheet usually is printed and one can request a copy. Any penalty is not a one penalty fits all circumstances but there usually is a maximum for most offenses. Some jurisdictions add a "court" or "admin" fee to the penalty.

    Best regards
