True to a degree but that is a very small percentage of the drivers leaving . It doesn't explain why the bottom feeders are constantly hiring while many others aren't even taking applications .
If the trucking industry is bad why are a lot of companies hiring drivers?

Having driven for a mill company for three months I have learned a few things. Most importantly I learned you have to fend for yourself and work out your own problems and keep in their ear about getting what you deserve. If you let them sit you somewhere and not call them on a consistent basis, they will let you sit. Don't befriend your dispatcher he will try to get your sympathy because freight coordinators walk all over him. Make him do his job and make sure he knows he is working for you. get through this first year and you should get better opportunities.

That just about sums things up..

havent checked the stats lately but last year out of all students coming out of school , 5% were still driving at the end of a year and 3% of those were still driving at the end of 3 years. That makes a constant turnover rate especially for the big 5.
