I'm only 24 years old, i enjoy working for Marten. I like to go home and hit the clubs and bars on the weekend with my buddies chasing ladies. 700 bucks a week isn't bad with 2500 miles at the very least. I think I might stay out for the next month though..ehh

If I had a job offer from Marten, I would take it. Making 500 a week is a lot better than what I make a week where I am, working a crappy job(currently)has made me really look at what I complain about. I used to complain with JB Hunt because I was only making 2-300 a week which is bad for OTR but it fluctuates each week. The most I make is about 240 dollars a week where I am now. If I ever go back OTR, I will not complain about every single thing like I used to. Be thankful for a job where you make something for a paycheck.

If you stay out a month you won't be able to go to the club and pick up on the ladies. Your buddies are gonna be scoring, while you are sitting in your sleeper.

    This is how martin works....period
dont listen to that idiot kabar or whatever his name is..these are my facts. On the road 7 years and ran my nuts off..no accidents..this is waht martin is.....the most dehumanizing, piece of crap company i have ever worked for. I will never work for a big company ever again. This should set the record straight for people who are going to orientation and want to bail.

This is how they treat a guy who actually runs hard, and knows how to handle dispatch and get the miles..but this company is by far the worst..

1.drove 1000 miles by car from mass to indy to go to orientation.
2.then sent 4 of us to mondovi to pickup our trucks from indy, another 500 miles.
3.of all the trucks they had in there lots, they tried to give us all midroofs. The other 3 accepted theirs....i was like you got to be kidding me......there was no apu's on them either. You need the apu..not a bunk heater...and a mid roof.....i told myself...ive seen enough...i waited all day friday for tham to give me a midroof?
    4. Went to the tractor shop. (the guy who runs it treats you so inhumanly, like you are stupid and mondovi wi is where its at....such a laugh because its a joke to see how these people up here do nothing but sit and drink everyday and try to backstab people and undermine them...its the mentality in this town...just so you know...i just sent a message over the qualcomm saying..thanks for the offer but im heading back home
    5. Yep, thats when i got a call from indy(this was planned by me)..told them i came all this way to get a midroof when you have thousands of freightliners sitting there? Told him he had a great sence of humor but i got stuff to do and called in for the van to bring me back to the hotel.
    6. Thats when it changed....i got a freighliner with an apu and a load out of there to nj...
    7. Yes i got all the info about the company (it was 1/30/10)...that we were going paperless in july and the fleet was half half....it didnt bother me because i didnt have it yet...so i couls just hammer down and match my fuel stops.
    8. I had jim, in indy who did run me...but ill tell you how it works.
    9. He will try to put you on a 500 mile trip due in two days trip...then you will call in and tell him that you would rather quit than waste time...so he will run you...and ran me he did....i dont want to tell you how hard...whatever....
    10. This is the problem

you cant take your trucks home ...they have to be parked at the terminals no exceptions.......anyone who works there knows this sucks....and they will just haul ### home anyway with the load....becuz that rule is ridiculous.
I was happy, running good, lucky i got a good dispatcher. I got a lod for the weekend and went to the terminal and parked it for my time off. Going to st louis and parked it in indy. Came back sunday.....my truck was parked in bobtail and the trailor was gone. What happened is another driver got stuck with a load from richmond va to evansville due that monday........he got pissed because that would mean hed have to sit all the way til monday to deliver it there....so he whined.
Get this....a weekend dispatcher got the shop to snap the load off me...they didnt have the proper keys for my unit so they slim jimmed into my truck and gave him the trailor....it took them 3 hours according to eyewitnesses to get into my truck. Then they realized that they forgot the bills in my cab...so they had to slim jim it again!!!! There were drivers there who saw it and told me what happened......
At that point i was going to clean out my truck...but didnt...i called dispatch that weekend and said ..something had better happen fast..they gave me another load because they knew i was fuming and knew better. I overlooked it..but then told myself..im brining my load home everytime...this will never happen again...(this is the mentality of marten..and it gets worst) this is no place for a driver to work....unless he wants to be a company snitch and accepts the fact that it will be 2000 miles or less per week and 2 weeks out.....i just rode the wave until the miles got short..and knew it was time to quit......my last load there...i was laid over with a kid who worked for them 5 years......they got me running and left him stranded there...i heard the whole conversation between him and his dispatcher...they were ignoring him and left home for the weekend.....he was trying to get planned for the weekend...and his dispatcher left him stranded for whatever reason.....this is what you will get at marten transport.....period....the sliding pay scale is under investigation with the labor board, the other drivers will turn you in anytime you turn your back..so dont say nothing keep to yourself.....mondovi is inhumane...and the dispatching is horrible..like us express. You wont see your last paycheck there...when you quit...my last paycheck was for 9.00. When it comes to doing any trailor runs or detention...the dispatchers at first will act like you are stupid and not pay you...then you will threaten them...and only then will they send you a p.o for any extra work....have to pull teeth...then you realize how to handle it.......i had it so they would send me the p.o first and then the favor second........they are sneaky like this.....and like i said...dont leave a load in the yard....they did snap that load off of me and gave it to another pissed off driver....that pissed me off.......to see how it is so cut throat and behind your back...but that's mondovi wi for you. I play the quiet game...but now i work for a smaller company who respects drivers. Abstain from marten altogether.....when you go to orientation....for a smoke break...you will see at least 2 drivers cleaning out there trucks and quitting.......while you are at orientation!!!!! This will be the first sign

Not to defend them, because Marten does have major problems, but two things that aren't true,,
you cant take your trucks home ...they have to be parked at the terminals no exceptions.......anyone who works there knows this sucks....and they will just haul ### home anyway with the load....becuz that rule is ridiculous.
You are so wrong! i live 400 miles from the nearest termianl, i i drop my mty in Cent. Ca, and bob tail, 250 miles each way. Been doing that for 6 years and no one has ever said youhave to leave it in Ontario and drive home in my own car.

sliding pay scale is under investigation with the labor board,
It's actually the FORCED PERDEIM being investagated. This was told to me by a 20 year vetern driver with friends in the office.

Oh ok...let me rephrase///yes you can bobtail home, but your load has to stay at the terminal...which is inconvenient anyway..unless you drop and get reassigned....I am going to copy and paste my only other post so I do not have to repeat myself...this company is unholy....The only way you can make any kind of money here is by running illegally.....period...and now you cant with the elogs.......this company does nothing but wrong people.....good runners as well...the only ones they keep are the ones that will run 2000 miles a week....do everything there told, and who will conform to their cult...and kiss company a//.....I like how the people who have been wronged at Martin vs. the people who blindly side with them is about 38000 to 1. I worked there, and have done it....your veterens there will just tell you the same thing...It is no longer profitable to the driver to work there...and try to screw the driver out of money.....if they tell you to do something extra, you have to get an upfront P.O....period.....when you start working there..you will see how dispatchers test you.....you will have to thereaten them...so that when they do tell you to go for an mt run or anything extra....they give you the p.o first........dispatches see how much they can get away with..........they tried to say..."oh youll get paid..we put it on a tab and pay at the end of the month....stall tactics.....they tried this with me....and when they tried to screw me the first time...."give me a p.o, or no deal......then they will know not to try to get away with it" weight tickets, anything extra.......they act ignorant until they know that YOU know better....then they wont do it to you...........that's not value for value.........stick up for this company? please. MARTEN ..the graveyard of suckers......just go to a truckstop and ask a Marten driver what he thinks..........youll be convinced after the forth driver......I have just copied and pasted my entrance and exit with this company:biggrin_25513:

hey man, this company is horrible,,,,,i live 40 miles north of the indy terminal...so to make things easier..i would have my wife come down here and i would rent a hotel room for the 1 night i had for my restart....just think...you are under a load that is due for monday...so you park your load there...so that on sunday...you kiss family good bye and take it to st louis for monday...i went back there...my tractor was in the bobtail row..and my trailor was gone... I went into the breakroom...and a guy witnessed the whole thing.....a driver had a load.....richmond to evansville...he got to indy terminal on saturday...they said he could not drop it...so he got pissed and threatened to quit...the dispatcher ok d the shop to go into my truck without me there, and snap the load from underneath me ....no calls ..nothing......since they did not have the master key to get into my truck...they had to slim jim it open...it took 3 hours according to driver....and then they realized that after locking my truck up...that they forgot to get the bills...so they slim jimmed it again..........i was furious...called dispatch and said.....you better have something for me and fast or im cleaning my truck out....so they did give me a load and i forgot about it........this is the mentality of the company....also...when i had a service done to my unit...i bought a camera and gift wrapped it..to give to my wife that very day......i went to the bathroom up in the braekroom....i didnt lock my door,,,,,,i was waiting for my wife to pick me up.......when i came back from the john.....it was gone.....i went into the shop....a kid said he replaced my ez pass but didnt see the camera....i said.."yeah? B.s.....you got 2 choices.....my camera..or my foot up your a.....i got right in his face..the whole terminal got wind of me becuz one of my buddies came into the terminal off the road...and heard the news before i evan told him........i cleaned my truck out.....and told the degenerate to watch his back.....and i cant say what else on here...they stole her camera.....my luck that i went to the can...and a freak thing..that they went into my truck to change an ez pass? I never told anybody about the camera.......this happened on my way out....i was gonna kill em...they pulled me back i ready to take a swing...i was pissed..........do not work for this company...copy and paste this.......so that no one else will either...........and...........if you get fired,, they will appeal...but i won....i got 1 1/2 years left....signed up for a hvac course, and almost done,,,,im so glad that i will be home every day.........so glad it's over
