Fuel Prices from what i see are avg. $3.00 a gallon and higher.
A few months ago they were around $2.50 a gallon.

1st. Does the fuel prices usually go up this time of year due to the holidays or is just increasing period? If so, when do you expect them to come down?

2nd. When using fuel surcharge, do you include the fee in with the total price of the load, or is it seperate?

Example. If a load is 500 miles and it pays $1,000 do I the additional surcharge rate, or is it included already?

And I know every load is different, but i'm just asking in general, especially for the load board broker loads.

    Thanks for all responses.

Fuel prices are going up because the greedy traders on wall st need to make some extra cash plain and simple, at this point and time there are no good reasons for it be going up, supply is at an all time high and demand has not come back comepletly yet. Look on line you will finded hundreds of excuses why its going up all BS. As far as fuel surcharges i add extra to my rate depending on where fuel is, example for every .25 a gallon fuel go's up i raise my rate $25 and its worked good for me.

Some gasoline/oil analyist was saying the other day he thinks gas will be $4 a gal by June, 2011. Heard it on a talk radio show. He said something like oil companies are raising prices matched to the value of the US dollar, not supply and demand. Bottom line? We's getting gouged ! What else is new, right?

is this a surprise? it's been increasing for years. sure it goes down but the trend is up three cents down on cent, or mabey two when people start to get loud about it. But the trend is upward and onward. but fuel always goes up at holidays, especially holidays where people drive alot. And it always goes down at election time. Think i'm making it up?? look it up for yourself

Oh, so it does have allot to do with the holidays.

Makes since in a business perspective to raise it for the holidays due to the travel numbers. But to keep it up, that's just down-right greedy!
