Well the reason for the other card is, they think you are a terrorist..
But not all ports will aceppt it.
I had to have the company set me up to enter the port of Baltimore, plus my twic card.
Also they will not allow my wife. Had to have her setup as well.
She's my helper..
Just remember where ever you sign up for your Twic card is where you have to go back and pick it up..
what is a twic card?

I just ran into this post. I wrote a fairly thorough article on the TWIC card. If anyone's interested it can be found HERE.
-
Do all trucking companies require a TWIC card?
-
No, but it's nice to have anyway. It broadens your options, which is always a good thing.Giuseppe Ventolucci Thanks this.

I have one. Basically you fill out an application, get finger printed and get your picture taken. In a week or two or four you'll get a call either telling you that your card is ready for pickup or you've been denied. To add to what others have said you can still get into some places that require a TWIC if you don't have one but you'll have to pay for an escort. You also can get a TWIC if you don't have hazmat endorsement. We pull chemicals from the port of Stockton that are non hazardous but require a TWIC to get in.

I was going to break down and apply for my TWIC regardless. I figured it would be better to have then not. I was speaking to a potential employer yesterday and they told me I needed it, but also said I needed to apply for it in the state I was working in??? I am looking to relocate to NC an work out of the Charlotte area. Any reason they would suggest that?
