All state dmv have commercial driver handbooks. Logbooks you cam get at truckstops for about $2 or $3. The rand mcnally Motor carrier atlas about $30 at the truckstop. Don't know what the bumper bumper is.

You are correct but you will get a better deal if you purchase these items from the school directly. I know for a fact that the Motor carrier atlas goes for about 13.00. the log books are 2.80 and the bumper to bumper is a book that they use during classes it goes over certain aspects of truck driving such as proper braking, load management etc.

That is the problem with laptops. If the screen or motherboard needs replacing, and it is not covered under warranty, it is usually about the same price to just get a new one. (I have an IT background :biggrin_2558: with a few years spent on a repair bench)

I was reading in another thread folks having to wait for trainers to become available (not CRS) - is that a problem with Central? Has anyone here needed to wait for a few days/weeks for a trainer to become available??

As far as waiting for trainers I have only known a few people that had to wait 1 week for a trainer. The company is short on trainers at the moment however because of the industry not many people last the full time on the trainers truck. It sounds harsh I know but its true some people get on the truck and only last 1 to 2 weeks then quite. So far everyone from my class that I have kept in contact with has stayed so far. There are only maybe 1 or 2 out of my class that have left but I cant be sure. I wanted to get off my trainers truck after the first snow we hit because I didn't feel safe. But several of the people from my class that I talked to regularly kept telling me that I would be fine just take my time. I have not had to chain up yet and in a way I hope I never do but I will just have to cross that bridge when I come to it.

Ok - we can deal with that - I'm just trying to think ahead about $$ and paying bills and stuff. All the things you just 'love' to think about <said in very sarcastic voice!>!!

    Thanks Smurfette

Ha ha very cute I need a good giggle once in a while. I feel I am on a strange journey that so far has landed me the best job I could possibly ever dream of getting. I have worked on cars been a fast food manager refrigeration tech as well as a dispatcher. This is the first job that I have had besides that fast food manager that I actually love to do. I like to be alone most of the time. So being by myself in the truck has had its advantages. I can now do the tattoos I want with no repercussions. Sure I may have to hide them depending on where I go to deliver but I'm free to not have to worry about that part of my appearance any more like I had to being in the public eye. I am excited to be on this journey and will share anything with anyone that asks. BTW my signature is a quote from a movie that happens to be my favorite. If you can figure out the movie then we think alike.

Wasn't that the proper response from a midnight showing? If not then to prove that I do know the movie "Riff Raff" wrote it, "Eddie" is one of my favorite singers, and my own personal opinion Tim Curry"s best movie.
