Freedom and NO BOSS breathing down my neck as long as I am on time for everything and safe! No stupid office politics. The few times I have tried to come off the road and do "something else", these two things have put me back in the truck - not to mention this last time that I was not making any money in the cab business! I love our country and seeing it go by. I have driven a truck in all 48 lower states, and two Canadian Provinces (Quebec and, of course, Ontario). We have a beautiful country. I, too, enjoy driving across Nebraska and imagining 12 miles a day in a wagon train, and how welcome Chimney Rock must have been. As a historian, I love seeing places, battlefields, etc. that I have studied about. There is a certain feeling driving through the Gettysburg Battlefield on US30 in PA - especially since I know my great grandfather fought there. Then, I see a sign for a battle I have never heard of, and I get to look it up online at the end of the day.

The things I love about trucking is knowing the man I love is sleeping like a baby in the sleeper while I'm having fun driving down the road making money ! He and I have had such a wonderful life together driving team ! Nothing could of made us closer than being side by side for over 30 years ! He's ill right now and the thought of him never comming home is the roughest road I have ever had to hold ! I love trucking with my Honey !

My wife & I had a hotshot business for a couple of years & I can tell you, you really have to be freiends & buddies to be together 24/7 365. You have your days but when your that close, nothing can remove the love for each other.

Although she didnt drive, we were independants & she kept books on the laptop & looked for loads along the way. We had a power supply/converter with a printer/scanner/copier so when she found a load, if the company had all thier stuff in PDF files we could do all the paper work thru email with an ATT wireless card. It was pretty neat. Most people were amazed that we did all that while I was driving down the road. She was a lot of help, and we had a lot of fun out there. We enjoyed it & hated to give it up but the money just wasnt there for us.

I used to like it for many, many years, but now, at my age, I dont want to do this anymore. The new drivers out there are dangerous. Everyday I see these kids driving a truck, and can not keep the #### thing in there lane. Always drifting, probably on there phone texting. Most of them ARE speeding, driving like a wannabie. Another thing, acting STUPID on the CB, which I no longer listen too.
