Up until 2 years ago, we usd CHR exclusively !!!!!

It was the best freight, we ever hauled, no exceptions.

And Schneider was the second best paying freight..........

CHR always paid our detention, but you need to get a check for it BEFORE you depart your location !!

    Just stop hauling cheap frieght,

learn how to qualify and obtain extra pay.

They just love to pass out that cheap and heavy stuff, plenty of suckers are lined up waiting for it !!

It all depends on the situation.
I had brokers tell me all they can pay is $1000 for a load going 900miles.
I askes for $1700 and they told me that I'm out to lunch. Few minutes later load is gone.

There have been times where I asked $400 over what they were offering and I got it.

Having said that I agree they are negotiable.

Our problem is that there are O/O that say yes to the load that's paying $1.05 per mile.

    cherokee96red and 123456 Thank this.

No, I just know how to operate at a profit. That means that I don't haul anything that doesn't pay enough for me to pay expenses and have a profit. I never haul for fuel money and if I can't get the rate that I want then I deadhead to an area where I can get a good rate. I always get a kick out of people who tell me that CH Robinson only has cheap and heavy freight. They either don't know how to run a business or don't know how to negotiate. One other thing. I do have an excellent safety rating. I keep my equipment up and make sure that I pick up and deliver loads as agreed. I have gotten a number of loads over the years due to my reliability and safety record. If someone can only get heavy or cheap loads from CH Robinson or any other broker, then it is their own fault. There are cheap freight areas, but you DON'T have to take a load that is too cheap. Rates rise until someone takes the load. Remember, it is the carrier who sets the rates. One major broker that I do business with won't even offer me a load that pays less than a certain point. He knows that I won't take it.

^^^^^^ Could not have said it better myself. Stop taking cheap loads and they will go up. Have one shipper i haul for that does this all the time, puts the load out there low to see if it will go and 75% of the time it go's for the low rate and if it dont move in a day or two watch the money get added fast. I only take short haul loads from them so dont have that issue but he has asked me to do some of the others and getting more money is never an issue. Guys need to learn that just because you have a load on does not mean your makeing money and theres no such thing as a back haul.

Robinson load I had a long time ago, came straight off a can and onto my trailer. We all know only the highest quality freight comes off the boat. Good news was it got me out of Jersey and home. You guys should of seen the peoples reaction at the tree farm I delivered it to. Needless to say they didn't expect a floor load.

There is always way more empty trucks than available loads.

There is always someone desperate to haul the freight dirt cheap.

I just finished a load for them, and yup, total FUBAR...Was set for a 7pm load, was told to get there 3hrs early, drop trailer, go hang out somewhere and come back...I drop trailer, tell shipping where I left it and what number, they tell me that load doesn't belong to CH and to pick my trailer up...I call CH, 4hrs later they get another load that doesn't load until 11pm, 2hrs after a nightmare of a snow/ice storm hits the area...2 days and 308 miles later, I finally delivered it...My first experience with them, not a happy camper...
