huh ??????

Ive heard of a "talk back" feaure on radios what does that mean/do....sorry for the confusion
-
it's a switch on the bigger cb's and i have used it but not really sure what it does. it didn't seem to make a difference. sorry i can't explain it to you better. but i am sure someone here can. sorry.
-
"Talkback" is hearing your voice come out of the speaker when you talk into your microphone. I think that's annoying, but apparently the benefit is to hear how you are sounding to others.
-
Talkback is used to set a power mic or an echo mic, so you can hear what you sound like on the air, usually causes feedback, dont waste your money.

you wanna hear farther and get out farther get the cobra 29 and a GOOD antenna centerloaded or as long as possible you could have a 1000$ radio with a 10$ antenna and it would get across the street but a 10$ radio and a 1000$ antenna would get you across the country (over exaduration of course but you get the point)

well i seen a cobra 29 ltd classic at walmart for 97 bucks today. so i bought it and hooked it up in my truck to my huslter magnet mount, i havnt got the SWR checked yet but i did it on the radio, man is that a HUGE difference for the chepo midland i had, What makes such a huge differnce? i mean i was transmitting with folks at least 5 miles away who wouldnt have even been static on the old one. thanks guys for all the help!

You get a good cb man and he can make that 29 sound great. I personaly would not let them push it past the 30"s, some like to max them out and hit the 50"s but they usally don't last very long like that.
Wilson 2000/5000
Great antennas, the only issue i can tell you about them is during the winter over time (could be a year could be 4-5+) the natural whipping motion of the rod will create small cracks at the top of the plastic covering the coil. this will allow water to enter in and rust/corrosion on the coil. This will result in loss reception/swr swing and possibly radio damage.
Keep an eye on them and you will be just fine. -
YOu want to realy make that 29 top shelf take it to a tech that has a station monitor scope and let him tune the entire radio this will cost a bit but worth it in the long run when you hear the differance in the recieve and transmit from a radio set up to the exact and most rigid tolerances that can be had with a good scope. Don't let any one cut or jump anything inside the radio the engeneers spend years in school to learn how to design a circuit and make it work with the rest of the circuits in the radio. You will have people tell you to clip this and jump that and it will be better. Well it might be for a short time then all the smoke will excape and it want work any more. Just a word of advise use it as you see fit.
