Anybody ever go to bush beans? I think its in Knoxville TN. I havent been there for a while. The factory is at the top of a mountain, windy curvy the whole nine yards. I wasnt worried about the grade as much as I was worried about the idiots coming down the mountain, on my side of the line. You come out of there fully loaded. I hate to say who the driver was that was on my side of the road. But YOu can guess.
Steepest grade you ever pulled or went down.....

I can assure you that roads in Quebec, Ontario, or BC, are not the steepest in America.

After a long time of reading maps, guessing, asking locals, and who knows what else, I got my hands on a GPS for the first time ever. Well, I'm like a kid with a new toy. THIS is the best thing since the hamburger was invented. THROW AWAY THE ATLAS. We have joined the modern world. Then I went to Drumheller, AB. Drumheller is an interesting place. It lies in the Red Deer river valley and is home to North America's dinosaur industry. I have a lot of customers in the area, so armed with my new GPS, I leave one site, heading for the next, relying only on the GPS. I didn't even look at the map. For the next half hour, I'm piloting a truck along goat trails, across fields and then...
The "road" takes a dive. The GPS tells me I'm not far from Hwy 10. In fact it tells me that I'm terrifyingly close to Hwy 10, and about 1000 feet above it. I don't know what the grade of that road was. All I can tell you is that if things had got a teeny bit more hairy, I would have needed to have broken out clean underwear that morning. Lesson learned. A GPS does NOT replace the oilfield atlas.
If anyone has done a steeper grade that I did that day, they fell off a cliff. Not bragging. I was genuinely frightened, and pee'd off at my own stupidity.3031 Thanks this. -
Thats a fun road. used to run it all the time. Most of it is 7 or 8, some spots are 10 and 12ARIZONA BONES said: ↑-Granite Pass, Graybull,WY US-14

It's actually in Dandridge, TN, I used to go there 1-2 times a week. That road is not steep at all but it is very curvy and tight no doubt.annettecj said: ↑Anybody ever go to bush beans? CA-44 from Shingletown (near Lassen Park) to Redding, CA. That one is steep, widy, and "twolane". If I remember it's got a couple 9 or 10% portions. Haven't been there in about 10 years but made that run
many times.
Probably the worst was 267 coming out of Truckee,CA. towards Tahoe Vista/Crystal Bay, then 431 to 28 to 50 to Carson City, NV. Shouldn't have been there at all but I didn't know better. On that strech I was on the low side of a 13 spd. in 3rd. gear on the jake and holding some brake to keep from over-reving. Live-n-learn I guess.
IMO the most dangerous are the ones that don't look much like a hill, but are 12-18 miles long! Those will getcha in big trouble before a steeper but shorter hill that scares you will. -
techinally canada is in "America" as in north america.
But i guess most people mean the usa by "america"
