My understanding is that 'firings' have picked up pace at all terminals, often for trivial stuff that would have never been a blimp on the radar screen before. With San Antonio/Laredo/Natalia being ATT's largest operation and with the most employees then their 'frequencies' would be higher as expected.
Did someone 'put on a show'? I handle many 'breakdown trips' and I'm continually amazed at the poor condition many of these trucks are in. Cabs littered with trash and garbage, trucks that appeared to have barely survived a 'mud bog' contest, various damaged parts, etc.

No it wasn't a show, ive know this guy for years and if i had been his boss he would have been gone a long time ago. I agree there is quite a few unprofessional individuals employed by ATT.
-
I agree about the ineptitude, it is rampant in ATT. Expect to be done soon myself. Dont think ATT will be around long. Try to stay as low profile as possible, dont want anyone, Union or Management to know who I am.
-
Gee, that's pretty sad. So how is the lowboy division doing? If there still is a lowboy division?

I have been off a while on short term disability, will be back in a couple weeks. Just wonder how much hassle I get. Had back surgery. Will find out in a couple weeks. Be safe out there.
-
Good luck, sounds as screwed up as it was before I took off for my back surgery.

Be back next week, as much as it has went downhill, Ill still do it over pulling freight or Ill get out of trucking totally. Be careful out there and dont know if Id even consider training.
-
Freight hauling sucks for sure but its always available to fall back on - always an opening somewhere! Daytime calls to Central are now often routed to Mexicana Logistics for trip clearing but little else, other than the spanish language 'after hours breakdown' line!

I've read many of the comments here and in related threads; have been lurking here for quite awhile. JHT Holdings is a complete riot for sure with many 'interesting people' of 'questionable status' wondering around. Hoping to make it to my retirement date and get out (still several years off).
I don't seem to be able to post to the 'union' threads; do I have to post here for a period of time before I'm allowed in?
Yes, 'shills' are a staple with JHT Holdings related companies.Last edited: Feb 11, 2011

I've got a bit of 'down time' this morning so I registered to contribute a line or two.
I've been with ATT for many years; an 'interesting ride'. My first experience with a union shop too. Looks like someone had their comments removed for? Did ATT contact the board owner and complain? We may never know.
Shills at ATT? Too many to count and often too obvious. On a recent dispatch out of Laredo I witnessed a young fellow who claimed to be from Ohio and had worked at the Springfield operation, now under the management of another JHT operation; Iron Tiger Logistics. Potential 'new hires' were being sent to him to get the spiel for some reason - the rest of us just kept quiet and rolled our eyes - we had never seen him before that day.
On the Cleveland yard recently, there was another young male who was walking around the yard with an expensive looking clip board and a smartphone. My first impression was that he worked for Freightliner and was doing a yard survey.
Wrong! This guy was a 'potential'(?) new hire who claimed to had worked for ATT many years back(?) I had heard his 'story' before from many known shills. Start date, the people he knew, etc.; all crap. He kept asking leading questions in an apparent attempt to cover up the fact he was 'brand new' to his mission at hand. Thinking he had little or no trucking experience judging from our conversation despite his proclamations to the contrary.
Earlier in this thread, it was mentioned that 'red circle drivers' were shills? I have no doubts that every single one is from my experience. Another closely related 'group' I'll refer to as the 'shill groupies' are most interesting too. I also read in a related thread where a poster who claimed to have been a 'red circle driver' had asked about Unimark? That was a huge 'red flag' as anyone who had spent any amount of time here knows who and what Unimark is.
I was here for the union selection election several years ago too and remember the faces (shill commandoes!) who showed up all of the sudden to 'sway' the employees away from supporting the IBT and disappeared shortly after the 'sham election'. The 'red circle drivers', 'groupies' and 'commandoes' all seemed to know each other!
I could go on quite a bit about this subject but I'll save it for later. Transporting and prepping new trucks for delivery was a great job that is now merely 'good' on occasion anymore. Like the rest of the 'legitimate employees' I'm just putting in my time in order to get the very good, company funded retirement package - another benefit of union representation.
Perhaps I can make some useful contributions to this board, if I'm not 'banned' for telling the truth as many media outlets do routinely anymore.skinnytrucker and Powell-Peralta Thank this.
