I believe that the way that they find out were you are is when they ping the ip of your equipment, if you shut it of from the motherboard (black Box) they still will now that something is wrong with your equipment. If they don't try to communicate every ten minutes they probably think that you are out of range signal, which it happens very often especially if you are in the north east. As I understand it depends on the set up of their system, I don't think they are able to know every time they communicate with you were you are, unless they go out of the way to find out.

get a lite-weight tin/metal bowl # wal mart (abt. size of q/c) a piece of pvc pipe w/magnet attached (duct-tape), So you dont have to climb up there, use magnetized pvc pipe to remove/install metal bowl over q/c, red-lite indicates 'no-signal' ! also ; on 'century + probably other trks . Q/C milage is recorded w/wo odo, so remove fuse for odo/spedo (tackometer will still work (on century's) but no cruise contol, It took abt 6 mo for j b hunt o fire me, i done-it every-day, only sinal was when I wanted to comminucate w/them; (i really miss that $300.. per wk ! )

Wow, you got fired for messing with company property. GOOD! Although it sounds like you still haven't learned anything by it.

get lite-wt. metal bowl (not alum.) # wal-mart abt. size of q/c; pvc pipe/pole w/magnet duct-tape attached; to install/remove metal bowl from q/c antenna (white-dome) red-lite/no-signal = no-signal ! also: Q/C has odo milage, so remove spedo/odo fuse (frtliner century's) tack will work , no cruise control. if company does not cooridinate Q/C - odo. milage dont worry abt. that, if mech. spedo/odo, fuse will not help. remove spedo cable # trans.

2 things u can do: remove the fuse from the fusebox that powers it or find the big black box and dis-connect the 'pwr' (power) cable. in both cases wait 10 minutes for big brother to go to 'sleep',indicator lites inside blk box will go out. if truck is pinged, it will show the location where u unplugged at. also, big b does not know nor does it let the company know its unplugged. I am on paperless logs and have done this when del and p-u are relatively close together, just remember to go back where it was u unplugged b/4 u plug back in. Or in situations where a truckstop and del/p-u are close together, again i stick to the 20 mile or less rule. go to the trk stop, show arrival then unplug. after 10 min. go do what u need to do, then come back to trk stop, plug in, and do the lded of mt call. comes in real handy when del/p-u time is on ur break or at a time when u don't have hours.
have done this countless times and company hasn't caught on :) !!!!!!! and it looks legal on ur e-log. big b/satellite doesn't know u left and came back.

screw the DOT and their rules.
