They are probably doing away with 34 hour restart.Hopefully they lose the 14 hour rule too.

    Let's reexamine the key point.....

We still have yet to know exactly what the proposal actually is therefore...it remains "Speculation"......

Many of the so called "Safety" groups like Public Citizen have lobbied for an 8 hour day total.....To include both driving and non-driving HOS like it currently is in France....

They also are pressuring industry to eliminate "Paid-by-the-mile" for all drivers to include O/O's.....How that is possible for an O/O is beyond me.....

Also according to an article in Heavy Duty Trucking: Eleven Trends To Watch (Lockridge and Patton-December edition, "Trend #6", page 58-Not yet on the online edtion as of 12-21-10), The larger carriers such as Maverick, Knight, J.B. Hunt, Schneider, and US Xpress are collectively seeking support from the ATA to push for a stand-alone bill that would give DOT 18 months to come up with a final rule on mandatory EOBR's for all carriers!!!!!

So it's just not the public safety groups that want to make life rough for the small carriers and "Single Pony" O/O's....our own industry is doing in kind....

Exactly WCP......the decisions aren't even final yet but we can all imagine just what type of nonsense they'll come up with.

I've heard rumors that they were going to EXTEND the 34 into a 48 hour reset....hmmm

Another rumor was that it would be a 10 hour day for driving........ok

So far those don't sound that bad or that egregious but someone will whine for sure

Another rumor was that they were trying to get our 14 hr clock to stop while we are in the dock...well that sounds hopeful to me

Until they put it out there for all to see and make it law we can all speculate, they've tried it before and it ended up staying the same.

I wouldn't hold my breath that much is done that actually benefits the driver.
    Or that uses common sense.
Its required of politicians to get rid of their common sense what little they had previously when they go to DC.

I wouldnt mind the 48 hr restart, only because Im going with a company that gets you home most weekends. You cant get much done in 34 hrs. Other than that I wish they would leave stuff alone. As for 123456's comment. Theres alot of us that do follow the rules. Were not all liars.:biggrin_25512:
