School starting, suggestions please.

You have to list your SSN on all employment applications. Well, you don't have to, but neither will you be hired if you do not provide one. Not many businesses, whether working in trucking or working in an office will hire someone if they do not have a SSN on you.

 

To bad you don't have internet access.

Gotta have a SS card to get a job. You have to produce your SS card and your ID for the I-9 form to prove that you are eligible to work . . . unless you want to be a 'migrant' farm worker or something like that.

 

In regards to your first sentence, no you don't. Where the application asks for a SSN you should write: "avail. upon hire"

Over your lifetime you may fill out dozens and dozens of job apps. Do you want your name, address, personal info and a SSN along with it in who knows whose hands from companies you never hear from again.

If hired, you then supply them with your original SSN card so they may photocopy it.
