Not sure about the pro rate but I do know they are more than fair. When I changed over to U2 as trainer, Derrick sent me home as U2 was out on the road and it would be easier to have him grab me along the I-80 corridor. They gave me the $600 for the week I was at Springfield/home since I was technically "available for dispatch." I thought that was pretty cool.

wassup fellas.... almost thru w/ the training, 20k to go. Home for the holidays right now. FYI, they do pro-rate the pay if your unavailable, but if the trainer takes the time off and not you, then my FM will still put me in for it cause it would be more of a hassle to get another truck, as long as it's only for a day or two. Home for the week = no pay.

Really depends on the DM. My last trainee was at home for 3 weeks and got paid. Of course he was available, but I was sent across the country and it took that long to get back to him. Things happen, and Prime is usually fair with student pay when they do.

Hey man, good to hear from you. Glad everything is going well. Now between you and Sazook, I may be forced to download the old Indian Head! You know, the sweater that won the cup last year.:biggrin_25522:

As long as it isn't a Penguin, Flyer, Lightning bolt, or Ranger, it's ok with me!

Newbie here thinking about giving Prime a call. I completed a 8 week cdl course in august and obtained my class A with Tanker and Hazmat. End of sept. i signed on with a company out of Montana (lots of red volvos and freightskakers) after there 10 day orientation i was put out on my own. Lots of LTL up and down east coast, somtimes 12-16 stops a day. After a solid month on my own I had to come home mid nov. due to a family health issue. What Im asking is will prime take me considering i only have 1 month experience and then havent driven in almost 2 months? sorry for the long post!! thanx

Prime will take you however, you will probably have to go through the training program.

Its more probable that you'll need to go out with a trainer for awhile. I'm not sure how long - that would probably depend on how the trainer evaluates your skills, especially with that 10-day orientation in lieu of real training deal. That's quite different than "having to go through the training program." You're certainly not going to have to repeat your CDL training - unless you delay getting into Prime. From what I've seen, most large carriers want you into their programs before 6 months from your CDL school graduation date.

I dont mind having to go out with a trainer for a few months, it would probably be for the better. I know about the 6 month limit, kind of hoping that since i was driving and working that would sort of extend it. Does Prime keep you moving, one of the main reasons im not going back to the first company is that I did a lot of sitting, almost every weekend. That and they were completely unorganized!! Thanx for the replys.
