Armellini is a no on students right now.........

 

Yeah, Armellini is great too! Probably the highest paying job! It is team only though and hard work. Home time is better. Usually out 3-5 days at a time because it is a floral carrier. Windy Hill is much more laid back though. I ran for a company exactly like Armellini (Stansell) I worked my butt off, however my paycheck was sick! Plus on these floral loads when you come back home you can take time off or run a local shuttle until your truck goes back out. Local shuttles usually go to Miami airport or Armellini terminal down south to pick loads to bring to Pierson terminal. Once in Pierson they combine all the fern with the flowers and ship out from there. They also run juice when flowers aren't busy. You can have up to 50 drops. You get a key to all the flower shops in the country and you just pull in unload into their cooler and take off! It is a real time sensitive load! A lot of times you go out to Dallas/FT.worth airport to get the other half of your load. You will get to be an excellent driver! A lot of flower shops are mothers F'rs getting in and out! They do have side doors on their trailers which makes it a little more convenient. Let me know guys if you have any questions.

 

I went to a truck driving school in the Tampa Bay area (not Roadmaster) and the companies that hired students after graduation included Werner, Windy Hill and McKenzie Tank Lines. Granted this was back in '07. 3 of the guys I graduated with went right to work with McKenzie and I think they're still there. It's mostly local and FL deliveries though they have had a few instances of hauling jet fuel to NC or CA.

when YOU DO get that year's worth of experience...?? be sure to just drive on by that company...and that is IF they are STILL in business in another year or so....

PM me and i'll tell you nearly word for word what i told a Schanno recruiter some years ago........(when they had a lease to own plan) and i do not know if they ARE STILL in business....which i doubt, nothing shows up on them now......

but be forewarned....what i told the recruiter is quite GRAPHIC.....

 

yeah, filling out apps now is useless. about 1 to 3 weeks before you graduate, fill them out, and by the way, get up a nice professional looking resume as well. recently too, cover letters are becoming more and more required by some employers. you can find out all sorts of samples for resumes and cover letters via the web.

 

Hey have you checked DTL in Sanford? I can't remember if they take students or not. They have really nice trucks! I think they just do southeast also. Another company to check is peninsula (PTI) They are somewhere around Eustis I think. Also try this site, its pretty good:

Crete is a really good company but hard to get on with. My uncle drove for them for a long time. They have a terminal right here in Deland.


Keep checking Craigslist everyday too! I have seen a lot of good jobs pop on there from time to time.
