Well on the brighter side consider yourself lucky to not getting hired on by mega-carriers. Now you are forced to find a good carrier!
No Injun, I haven't made it a point to read through all the Swift threads. Thanks for the correction though. So what your telling me is they are a crap company and are picky of who they hire!

maybe (just saying) either one, "possession" to "some employers" may be just enough to deny a job to someone.....
if it were (say) "possession" or drugs or drug paraphernalia, that would send up red flags as a person either being a drug user or dealer...
if it were (say) "possession" of a weapon of some sort, that would send up red flags a person is violent....
just saying......
only YOU KNOW the "possession" charges.....
but in the meantime, continue to knock on doors, and make sure you answer truthfully (i'm sure you did) to all the questions on any application....
if they want your background for 10/20 years, you got to tell them
if they want your background for 5 years, that's as far back as you go.
if they ask "EVER BEEN ARRESTED"......that's an open question to ALL the years of your life. -
Have you made a list of who have turned you down ??
I have no idea who you have applied to.
stevens transport
ffe
westside
craigslist, but be careful.........
Do you think you can pass a roadtest ?
If push comes to shove, and you get nowhere, there are services available to find a job-but they charge a fee.
I strongly urge you to avoid that route.Last edited: Dec 24, 2010
dano1971 Thanks this. -
I have no legal issues at all, ever, so this is only of "academic" interest to me. But...I'm guessing that when companies have this laundry list of past offenses that they'll consider for forgiveness, it's not a blanket amnesty. I expect that they'll look at the circumstances, and that their policy may allow them to forgive the offense, but it doesn't mean they will.
As rerun pointed out, the OP hasn't provided details on his offense...and if it was me, I wouldn't, because no one on this board is going to solve his problem anyway. But, "possession of a controlled substance" could cover a lot of different situations, and when companies look into the specifics, there just may be certain things that they're not going to give him a pass on. -

ok...but you see here is the "mentality" of the trucking companies is, that word "possession"....i am NOT here to judge why, how, what, where, etc,etc...
that's between you and your doctor, or by the way, the person who the meds (drugs) belonged to, IF and i only say IF the meds (drugs) were NOT prescribed to you.....don't forget, if ANYONE, not just you, were taking someone else's meds (drugs) that's against the law. so however, and i do NOT CARE however this all came about, the trucking companies WILL NOT believe you.......it is not me or anyone else here you NEED to convince, its the trucking companies.
so even if they were your "significant others" meds, they were not yours, as your name wasn't on the bottle.......
if your name WAS ON the bottle, then why this happened (the possession charges) i would not know...but apparently, someone saw it fit to charge you for it.
just think, the word alone ("possession") sends up red flags to trucking companies.
try and find a way to get this removed from your record. it may take time and money, but it could be your chance to get the job you want.
i really do not know off the top of my head what else i can say, but if i can come up with some ideas, i will let you know. -
Rerun, not to change the subject, but if your criminal record has been expunged should you still reveal to said company, that you have been convicted?
-
There are places that will take you. Just be honest and keep trying.
There is an outfit here in SoCal that won't take if you DO NOT have a problem record. Good company, take care of their people well and give them the chance to get experience.
The opportunities are out there. I wish you the best. -
Mack attack Thanks this.
