Greetings and Mary X mas to all!

I am getting a Boost Gauge for christmas and was looking into an Auto Meter brand.

    I have a N14 red top.

what type should I get (electronic or mechanical)

does anyone have any experience wiring it or routing lines etc...?

    Thank you very much.

    happy holidays

This would be better suited in the Garage section, but I'll answer it. Go with the mechanical guage for 2 reasons. 1: its way cheaper 2: way easier to install and pretty much no issues once its installed.

As for routing the tubing just make sure that it is secured and not rubbing anything and that you use either a bulkhead fitting or rubber gromet going through the firewall. Its pretty straight forward if you have any wrenching abilities.

Pretty much like said. Its easy to do just make sure your line is secure and not going to be flopping around or rubbing something, definately use a grommet on the firewall or use a spot where other stuff goes thru as long as there is room and imo use a mechanical fisher all the way. Auto meter makes some great gauges and depending which style you get there not to expensive. god luck

There isn't a port on the intake manifold? Big trucks are such strange and majestic creatures...

In 4 wheelers there is usually a tapped hole somewhere on the intake manifold (usually towards the firewall) blanked out with a bolt for diagnostic purposes so a manometer can be screwed in the back at a shop to test boost pressure.

T-ing off a vacuum line isn't going to give you a boost reading in a big truck.
