I can definitely think of a few places where those could be a problem!:biggrin_2554:

I was more curious as to whether the snow or ice would build up on them when the roads or driveways are crappy. Like the snow builds up on the landing gear, or even the mud flaps on a car.

If I was to delete about 10 or 12 posts this thread might be on topic again.

The politics forum might be unmoderated but that doesn't mean the entire site is.
If you wish to have a "love" fest take it to either the politics forum, or the dirty jokes forum.

If this thread doesn't get back on topic it'll be OOS and the big red sticker indicating such will be applied.

    Thank you.

I don't get to pull the new fancy Swift trailers, I have to pull Wal-mart trailers. LOL

The only time I ever got to drag new trailers was when I was picking them up at Wabash in Indiana and dropping them at the paper mills in Green Bay. When I picked up loads at the paper mills though, I never seemed to get the nice new ones I had dropped off.:biggrin_25512:

Wal-Mart bought these new trailers and the darn things almost drove us crazy at first due to the tandems. Wal-Mart greased the tandems and the grease they used was like glue. You would have to either hammer on them or take them in to the mechanics. Crazy.

    To answer a previous question:

I have hauled skirted trailers for both Prime and Swift and in all kinds of weather. Most of Prime's newest trailers at the time were equipped with Super Single tires. Swift experimented with them, but found they were not to their liking and abandoned Super Sngles. Everything coming in now has duals on it.

I have not had any problem with snow or ice buildup on the skirts themselves. I do wish, however, that the skirts were a little higher off the ground. I have rubbed them on the ground a couple of times crossing railroad tracks or going into a parking lot entrance. They have to be watched closely when a customer asks to have the trailer parked in that back mudhole where they put empties. It's easy to scrape the ground in some of these areas.

About the only real issue I've had with skirted trailers was a rather fun ride across Wyoming and Nebraska with only 9K in the box. Those skirts do make their presence known with a good side wind. Otherwise, I hardly notice them.

Thanks for that! You actually answered a couple of questions my hubby and I have had about those and forgot about too. We have talked about the wind factor before too. Nice to know that the snow/ice doesn't build up on them. That could add a heck of a lot of weight in a hurry if it did.

    Injun Thanks this.

I am tired of the mod team having to deal with this same thread all day.
Those of you who like to post insults need to stop, or go away...and those of you who are looking to feel insulted need to relax.

    This one is done!

Okay, I have removed several off topic posts and borderline insulting posts.

Lets try this one more time. This is not a thread to bash Swift or any other company, PLEASE use the appropriate forum if you feel the need to do so.
