OOIDA: Is the membership worth it?

Totally worthless. Save your money.

 

What is the reason(s) forsaying that? Really,I know who&what they are,-but thats it.

 

I'm a member of OOIDA and I have found that the membership is well worth the money I spend on it.

I buy my medical, dental and occupational health insurance through them.
I also buy my non trucking and bobtail insurance through them...The prices are the best that I found for the coverage I get.

They also are a voice for the O/O in Washington and have filed and won quite a few lawsuits for the benefit of truckers and O/O's.

I have gotten good legal advice from them with a simple phone call.

They are not a union nor are they intended to be one...They are an association for Owner Operators and Independent drivers just as the name implies.

The cost of membership is nominal and the benefits are pretty decent if you know how to use their services.
Next time I renew my membership I'll be getting a lifetime membership.

I just renewed when they had their truckers for troops thingy.... $25 instead of the $45 & I paid up for 4 years.

 

It's way better than paying a ripoff pre paid legal! the list of lawyers nation wide who do truckers legal not new graduates, they have a list of BFI brokers to stay away from, a list of truck services that are recommended and a few other blacklists or not so good services to stay away from! As Blackw900, said a list of good insurance coverages and at a one time yearly fee of $45, BUT if recommended by a member the first year is $25 or it was 30 seconds ago when I went to their web site at ooida dot com! Some drivers just think they are like a union or worse ad will bad mouth them but as a company driver after selling my last truck I had the same coverages if I wanted them and all the other benefits like getting the name and number of a good lawyer wherever I got a ticket! If you can't afford $3.75 a month you're really in the wrong business or you work for a BFI! At least try them for the first year or hit the website and check them out! That part IS free!

 

for many of the same reason why you joined, so did i.....best $45 per year i ever spend, compared to the "millions or dollars" people spend on snack foods, sodas, cigarettes, candy, gambling, lottery, etc,etc.....

 

Just recently i bought my truck ,and two very good friends advise me to join. So i took their advice and already have had some saveings in their insurance dept. On top of this some of the ladys that handled my hole deal signing up and the insurance we very helpful and very pleasant!.......seems to be the best $25 bucks i'v spent so far
