Hello to all my fellow truckers out there! I'm making a return to trucking after being out for 5 1/2 years. I've taken a course to renew my CDL and I'm working on getting my Hazmat in the near future. From what I was told, I'm starting out as a newbie because I've been away from the game so long. However when I took the CDL course to renew my CDL, I was the best student because of my driving skills. I did pretty good for someone being away for so long. But my question is that I've been looking at two companies to go with, Transport America and Roehl. Does anyone drive for either company? How long is there training with a trainer? I'm not to happy on going out on the road with someone for 4-6 weeks because I feel I don't need to be out that long with them. I want to earn my own miles on my own. This would help in my decision listening to your comments. Thank you again Truckers!![]()

Welcome. Good luck, 4-6 weeks will pass quickly.

Oh, I only personally know one person that worked for either of the two carriers you mentioned. He chose Roehl and left after about 6-7 weeks.

Welcome to the forum Kevo.
No matter which outfit you choose to run with, good luck to you! -
I can understand a company wanting a former driver to go out with a trainer to get re-acclimated with the equipment, qual-com, etc.
There ain't no way I would pay to go through some BS "refresher" course. If the company wanted to pay for it fine.
I'm not paying for something I already know how to do.112racing Thanks this. -
Good luck on your choice, and welcome.
