    Please post your thoughts.

Have been working with this company, already approved for hire, went in to do the drug test this morning... planning on starting next week, BUT, there was this sign, in FOUR different colors, in FOUR different places that read:

"THIS IS NOT A DRIVER LOUNGE - TAKE CARE OF YOUR BUSINESS IN A TIMELY MANNER AND MOVE ON"

These signs were posted in a front office, outside a couple of other offices... not fancy or upscale offices, just old school desks and chairs in a 50 year old building. Four signs in four colors, framed and facing outward for your perusal.

Could ya be a little more obvious?

I realize that there could be a couple of loud drivers who like to congregate in this office area, telling stories, jokes, cursing, raising cane and what-have-you... but why post 4 signs, in that case?

Or, could it be that drivers aren't welcome? Pardon the attitude, but I didn't feel very welcome, despite being very clean, pressed western shirt, shined boots, starched wranglers... just makes me wonder how things really work a month down the road when there's a problem with the truck or a problem at a shipper/receiver.

Hey, I'm from Texas, and didn't figure a suit was appropriate. I wear wranglers and boots quite often, and don't wear wrinkled jeans.

I dropped in my clothing description, because I figured if I was wearing smelly sweats with holes in them, I might expect that kind of stereotypical treatment.

I wouldn't mind knowing what company it is?
Do they understand that it is the "Drivers" of a trucking company that makes the $$ that pays for their paper and their pay checks?

Evidently they do not understand that little fact. I could see if the signs said "PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR BUSINESS IN A TIMELY MANNER" but the stuff about move along and this is not a drivers lounge is just insulting.

a driver lounge is for the drivers. the general/administrative offices or the mechanic's shop are not for the drivers....and sometimes, we (myself included) need more than 1 reminder. There are certain places at our workplace that the drivers are not allowed, and reasonable explanations are given for each area. However, no signs are posted...perhaps the guys with a few write ups (which count against their safety bonus) would appreciate a sign or 2. :)

Sounds like they have had some loitering problems...no big deal. I run into people all the time that are loud, obnoxious, etc. Some people really don't have a clue and those people need four signs to give them even a hint as to what a pain in the arse they are. I wouldn't sweat it...unless...you don't have a clue!

Maybe there is already an obnoxious driver in the lounge and we want to find a place away from that for a nice peaceful conversation.

Sounds like a company I'd rather not work for.

i actually have seen signs much like this and it makes perfect sense....i'll bet anyone dollars to donuts that they HAVE ASKED drivers to go to the drivers lounge MANY TIMES because of the loud conversations or the cuss words being used. i see this as they are FED UP with having to continually repeat themselves over and over again and frankly it is tiring.....it does not take long for a driver to strike up a conversation with someone, and carry it on forever..i see no problem with posting such signs...do your business and move on.....the last thing the office wants is some dumb@zz trucker(s) to start talking loudly when office workers are on the phones, or customers come in for service....
