Congrads!
Dont pay someone to file the forms for you. Do it online yourself and save the $.
There is a thread around here discussing that just this week.
The FMCSA has everything online - not hard to read and you fill it out online along with your credit card payment of $300.
It's not hard at all. Intimidating to some perhaps, but not hard. The directions are really straight forward.
I filed for my MC and received it within 21 days or so...All online and w/o paying some wah-hoo company $600+ or more to do what I can....
When the time comes, if you have questions ask here or PM me if you like too....
The most important parts of all of this? Your names and information must all match on all forms.
For example: LLC/USDOT/MC/Insurance ...if anything isn't all matched, the application is held up or rejected.
Best of luck to you in this new endeavor..." OPTIMUS PRIME ", JimTheHut, bobobrazil and 2 others Thank this. -
Thanks I was planing on doing all my own paperwork. The nervous part is learning the right lanes to run and not getting suckered by some broker
-
Way to go! Keep up the good work!
Mr. PlumCrazy Thanks this. -
PlumCrazy,
Just did it myself. Week one, OMG can I do this? Week two, I was an idiot for not doing this years ago.
Five bits of advice -
- If you take care of the pennies, the dollars will take care of themselves.
- One foot in front of the other, one step at atime. Make good decisions, but don't hesitate too long.
- Don't give a second thought to any negative advice from truckers accept the ones that you know personally who have successfully ran their own authority. Everybody else is a wannabe. Once you have your own authority, it is a business. Driving is secondary in importance to all your other responsibilities.
- LEARN from every action you take and decision you make.
- Document it! If you dont document it, it didn't happen. If you need proof of this ask the IRS or anybody who owes you money.chalupa, Mr. PlumCrazy, scottied67 and 2 others Thank this. -
It's going to be a learning experience, no doubt about it. I don't think an O/O ever quits learning, and that's good; otherwise boredom would set in. So how about some details on your trailer.
Mr. PlumCrazy Thanks this. -
congrats!.....my next step after i generat some more income lol
Mr. PlumCrazy Thanks this. -
Re; brokers....Do not tell them you need a "backhaul". Or, something to get me "home". They will take advantage, for sure.
bobobrazil, uptownkid and Mr. PlumCrazy Thank this. -
That's right. Take that word "backhaul" out of your vocabulary. As an O/O, there's no such thing as a backhaul. It's just another load.
Brickman, Mr. PlumCrazy and LostSoulCA Thank this. -
