I did it wrong I had the HOUSE paid for 1st then as an O/O the W900's , the PETE's and WS's along with the trailers and the toys and was never gone for 6 months

Actually it can be alot of fun.We stopped and looked at things that he had passed many times, and never really saw.Like the Texas Canyon, the "Thing"that they advertise from Tx.to N.M.We stopped at the casinos in Biloxi,Shreveport,Kansas City, and Gary.

Guess that explains why he went home 3 times...he has about the only thing he really needed in the truck. No kids, wife in truck so why go home to do household fixit projects! Your last couple of posts were actually not that good now that the reason he only went home comes out!
No reason to go there!
It is BAD FORM to just announce that you're going home when leased on with any company even a BFI's unless it's a life and death situation! I've seen a few o/o's that thought they could do that and they were told to drop the trailer at the yard and not to bother coming back or had the trailer picked up and told not to bother to call in! OR the best was to be sat somewhere while a load was found. A little punishment for the disgression of thinking they were a "boss" when leased on!
That "when you want to" works when the trailer and numbers on the door are yours not XYZ Companies.
Being an owner operator does have a lot of perks but when pulling someone elses equipment, it has a few responsibilities such as giving notice before deciding to take a break! The company wants that trailer to make as much money as it can and when you just tell them I'm going home without telling thems o they can make arraignments with a load they might have pre planned or being held for you, then that's just not being smart!
O/O's have a DAC report also and that looks about as bad as an abandonment! You won't be making a house payment while trying to find a job as an O/O with that chasing you around!Alanp613 and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
No worries with any of that. The company doesn't own any trailers or at least for the flatbed div.The trailers are leased,we pay for it weekly if it moves or not.A pre-planned load is non existant,99% of the time I find the loads.

Who do you "drive" for?
It seems that the ONLY thing this company gets you are license, perms, insurance and someway to have a trailer.
Am I correct?
It sounds like you do most of the work and they take the credit maybe? If you do the "brokering of the loads" in your case "find" the loads, who pays you? Is it Roehl, Great Wide or who, as the few posts you've done makes it a little confusing as you really liked Roehl.
But still that statement ofis not good business! It's like quitting a job. You give a notice. But I guess work ethics are changing faster than anyone can keep up with.Alanp613 Thanks this. -
Roehl is a honest company(at least as to my husband)more than fair with drivers.OK,you should be fair with a company for home time-If that company is fair with you(is that better?)Right now he is leased to Greatwide/Cheetah.

This a great post. You seem to have a good attitude and that is what it takes. happy driving!
-
Why the hell would you wanna be an owner op if you only got home 3 times in a year.Ridiculous,I smell b.s.ghostchild Thanks this.

My thoughts has always been, CHECK OUT THOROUGHLY before you make a move, either as O/O or rent a truck ,Or you dont really have the right to #####. ive been out here darn near forever as o/o lease and company driver
