Maybe it's time for you to walk or drive to your local DMV and pick up a cdl handbook,Last edited by a moderator: Dec 29, 2010

I hear at CDL school you do the pre-trip so much that by the time you're done with school you can do it in your sleep. CDL handbook is a great resource that covers what needs to be checked. As far as looking under/inside/above/below/at/around a truck..well, maybe ask to look at one at a dealership?

Please describe a very thorough(as thorough as possible) pre trip inspection in great detail.
1) Start truck , put in gear and drive away because with all the EXPERIENCE you have stated on here in various posts you should be able to do the PRETRIP in your sleep. -
I would, but I am not that great of a typer..,however,on the back of my log sheets,is a very detailed pre trip inspection check list..,available at your local truck stop..

I think there are about 95 items to check on a pre-trip inspection (if you want to do them all). That would be a lot to post on here.

Based on what I see other drivers do, that seems to be pretty much all there is to it.
Seriously, doesn't anybody do a pre-trip anymore? I see a lot of trucks leave the truckstop after taking 10 hours and I never see anyone even kick their tires, much less do anything resembling a reasonable inspection. -
I've run teams with guys that never looked at the equipment, never monitered the loading, never did anything other than just drive. I hated babysitting these clowns.

It is the reason I posted what I did.
I do a pretrip each day. My life depends on it. -
i'm gonna be upgrading from a B to and A when i get my tax return back and i've been going over what i need to do on the pretrip, in cab, and break bleed down and it is extremely frightening that after almost 4 years since i got my CDL, i still remember this stuff. i gotta refresh up on the times for the break bleed down but i still remember it's gotta be between 120-130, 60 the buzzer goes, 40 spring brakes apply. i forget how long its suppose to take to recharge but i'm not worried about it. i forget how much pressure you shouldnt lose but once we go over it when i upgrade to the A it'll come back to me.
