I was looking that stuff over you sent me JD and I agree it was only a good deal for them. possibly look into Jones transport. I sent you a link the other day. Dino is hooking up with them....and they do more than flatbed too.....they at least look reputable and decent. They ONLY deal with o/o's too.

This just in...email from JB Hunt:

I just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year and let you know that I have still got tremendous freight opportunites for you in the year to come.
Our customer base continues to grow and our freight levels are increasing daily.
Give me a call if you are interested in hauling some of this freight.

    Thanks,

Yeah, I got the same email. They send them about once a week, telling you about the massive amounts of freight they have available..

Call D&G in Germantown... reefer outfit but I hear good things. My 379 was there for a few years before I bought it.... you will need a reefer trailer....but the $$$ seems to be good.

There are some power only opportunities for those who run their own authority, but if you want to have your authority you really should get your own trailer. Unless you have a trailer your opportunities will be limited. If you can't or don't want to buy a trailer then you would probably be better off leasing to a carrier. Depending on the type of freight you want to haul, there are some who have decent paying freight. Landstar, Jones, CRST Malone, Mason Dixon, Universal AM CAN are a few that pay percentage and have a broad base of freight. You won't need a van if you lease to those who have their own since you will be doing a lot of drop and hook. If you pull a flat or step deck with them then you will need to either rent one of their's or bring your own. If you lease to any carrier you are usually much better off going to one that pays a percentage of the line haul rather than mileage.

Hey...JB Hunt just raised the average rate to $1.48/mile due to the ever increasing cost of fuel. WOW!

    :biggrin_2556:

By the way, Progressive actually WILL provide and offer GL coverage as long as you find the right agent that can work with you. I actually have a quote from the Progressive system showing actual GL coverage. $1mil is about $400.

I likely will sign up with Hunt but not planning on doing much with them at the moment. I dont think it will hurt to be setup as long as I was planning on obtaining the insurance anyway. GL is rather usless coverage I think but with everyone being sue happy these days, it's almost required...

Hunt and Progressive have an agreement that will permit full operation (East of I-35) w/o any worries to the 500 mile radius limits.

I can't see paying their insurance for them to pull their trailers. It should be up to them to have their own general liability and cartage insurance. Were it not for those extra costs, it might be worth more consideration. Another concern that I would have pulling their trailers is how well they are maintained. If you do drop and hook with their trailers you have no way to know how well they are maintained. If a scale decides to pull you in for an inspection then you could be held responsible for anything that might be wrong with their trailer. Since they want you to pay their trailer and general liability insurance, they probably want you to take care of the maintenance on their trailers, too.
