We already have them in Ontario. Governed at 63mph. The biggest problem is that lighter trucks usually end up catching the heavier trucks in the hills and that results in a back and forth elephant race down the highway.

This is about big company feul economy, not safety.

It's governed at 65mph(105km/h) in Ontario, which is fine in northern ON, but sucks along the 401 or 400..

However the proposal in the US would be at 68mph(109km/h), which isn't a bad deal, really. Gestapo like, sure, but not too bad of a speed limit.

For an industry that was deregulated decades ago, they are sure doing their best to regulate the crap out of it.

The deregulation you speak so dearly of was on the income side. It was the result of the party in control of removing price controls to the trucking industry.

It led us down the path of these corrupt trucking companies we have that are known as bottom feeders.

These regulations have nothing to do with it except as further control which the bottom feeders want.

I know that medic. They are now destroying the industry with a different type of regulations.

They are working toward treating the drivers as slaves.

Completely. I think it's time they start subjecting the public to the same crap. Then we'll see how fast crap changes. If the government were to do the stuff to the public that they are doing to the truckers, there would be such an outcry from all the civil liberties organizations and every other organization out there like that the government would be spinning.
