Who else offers complete engines besides Great Lakes?

    I am in need of a 3406c engine and really liked what Great Lakes has to offer but from what I am gathering on this forum they are not good to deal with. Has anyone bought an engine from them with good success? Who else offers complete engines? Thanks

    Thats what I hear too. I talked to Steve and Rick at Great Lakes and they seemed ok but have not heard from anyone who has a motor from them that is happy. I like the 725hp motor with a 5 year warrenty but if it is not what they say it is or they are not going to stand behind it I will just do an inframe on what I have. I had an 8pn motor in the truck from factory and it was dynoed at somewhere around 575hp at the back wheels at got 6 miles to the gallon but after almost 2 million miles on the block and crank the crank left go. So I put in a used 3zj motor in to get me going, it ran like a 475 maybe, but the junk aluminum pistons gave up and so here I am agian needing an engine.

    It's almost impossible to get 725 hp from B or C reliably, pump is too weak. They give you maybe 5 minutes warranty, 5 minutes after your taillights disappear.

    Look at it this way....
    If you have a breakdown somewhere, who will provide you with service and warranty?
    Great Lakes is 30 miles from my door, but who would cover the engine if I'm 500 miles away? Nobody.
    I have been considering a 389 glider with a 6nz, but the engine will be coming directly from Cat where I can have nationwide access to Cat's warranty and service.
