Peanuts, Turkey and chicken. It depends on what sets off the gout. I know peanuts will do mine. Also a friend gets it from poultry.
When the doctor gives me diruretics, such as hydrochlorathyazide, it will affect the fluid balance in my system and bring on a gout attack.
I have not taken allopurinol, which is a preventative, in over 6 years. I watch what I eat.

I've been taking goutcure for the last 10 years. works wonders and I still eat what I want. Only time I get an attack is when I forget to re order the pills before I run out lol.

Unless Gout is causing significant pain and loss of mobility, it is not an item that would prevent driving. Decrease symptoms by reducing protein and alcohol intake during flare ups. I have performed CDL / non-CDL physicals for over 13 years. When the DOT gets it's certification course together I hope to become cert. Sometime in 2011 all Doctors/providers that perform these physicals will have to be certified.

What about vision? I'm not color blind, but have to wear corrective lenses for reading/driving. My left eye won't focus at a distance, so everything is blurry unless I have my glasses on. Will this be a killer?
Also I recently had shoulder surgery; I've been released from PT and post-care, ROM is better than it has before the operation. All they did was remove some bone from my collarbone and re-attach the tendon. (Mumford procedure) Was a result of a dislocation 13 years ago, which required screws to re-attach my rotator cuff. -
Is that a joke or you serious? I've never in my life been flexible enough to even touch my toes with my legs straight and i'm in better shape then the average man I'd say.

Eyes:
You must have 20/40 correctable vision in each eye. Glasses or contact lenses are permitted.
Shoulder:
I had the same surgery in April and passed a DOT physical in September. In fact I have had both shoulders operated on. You should be ok as long as you are off the narcotics.
